Customer: Investment funds
SCI Verkehr analyses the European rolling stock leasing market in the context of a possible investment before a due diligence. Focus is put on markets for locomotives and for passenger transport. SCI Verkehr performs a target screening and identifies the most attractive national markets.

On behalf of a financier, SCI Verkehr analysed and evaluated potential foreign markets. In doing so, both the market development and the market environment were considered. This was intended to help identify risks and challenges when entering the market.

SCI Verkehr supported a financial investor in conducting commercial due diligence (CDD) in the railway infrastructure sector. A full CDD report was prepared. Special attention was paid to individual European focus countries.

SCI Verkehr provided a continuously updated project monitoring system for a manufacturer of rail vehicle components. Within the framework of this monitoring, the data and facts critical to success and decision-making were mapped. The customer thus received information on the relevant vehicle projects and was able to initiate necessary product developments in good time.
Customer: Consultancy
On behalf of a client, SCI Verkehr compiled a list of projects commissioned for the years 2010-2019 in the rolling stock sector and analysed the bidder structure, i.e. the companies that have applied for the contracts.
Customer: Russian research institute
SCI Verkehr analysed and compared the tariff systems and price regulation of passenger transport companies in the rail, bus and aircraft sector. The analysis focused on the valuation of dynamic pricing systems. Additionally, the impact of such pricing systems on transport demand was examined. The leading countries chosen for this analysis were Germany, Great Britain, France, the USA, China, India, South Africa and Brazil.
Customer: International investment company
On behalf of an international investment company, SCI Verkehr evaluated a large fleet of different types of freight wagons according to the replacement value after depreciation. A car-specific depreciation according to physical, functional and commercial obsolescence was calculated.
Customer: International finance group
SCI Verkehr carried out a detailed DRC (Depreciated Replacement Cost) analysis of a large freight wagon fleet, based on an asset-by-asset approach. Additionally, a comparison of market lease rates was used as a back-up value comparison.

For a financial institution, SCI Verkehr evaluated the market-side performance of a catenary construction machine.

Idea and concept study on behalf of the Hamburg city development authority. The working group was composed of: Institute for Local and Regional Transportation Research e.V. (ISRT), Coast Planning Institute (PIK) and SCI Engineer Services GmbH (SCI).
Customer: NEW.S
Since 2004, the social partner project Nordrhein-Westfälische ErnährungsWirtschaft e.V. (NEW.S) has been leading a continuous discussion of important logistics issues in the sector. For this reason SCI Verkehr GmbH has developed a series of workshops called ?optimisation in the logistics sector? with company representatives. For two further workshops in the spring of 2007, SCI Verkehr is taking over the entire content preparation and management. This includes concept development, detailed planning, acquiring speakers and the presentation of the workshops.
Customer: International leading company in rail freight transport
SCI Verkehr supported a leading European rail freight transport company in central restructuring processes. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr developed own and analysed existing market expectations. At the same time, benchmarks regarding the entrepreneurial organisation of production and sales units were been developed. SCI Verkehr prepared, accompanied and evaluated the processes for implementing the restructuring.

On the basis of its own preliminary studies, SCI Verkehr, together with partners, is supporting a globally active logistics group in the development of its own rail strategy. The activities take place within the framework of the implementation of the group's CO2 targets. Internal quantities are analysed and concrete strategic approaches to shifting are developed.

Customer: Midsized railway technology company
Our client had developed an innovative system for electronic fare management, which it wished to have tested in practice. In addition, the acceptance of the company was necessary as well as funding. SCI Verkehr took part in the project and assisted the client in quickly satisfying the necessary requirements for using the system in commercial operation.
Customer: Medium-sized forwarding company
A medium-sized forwarding company is planning to extend its existing railways siding and to improve it by setting up a handling hall. In order to construct these facilities, the company will seek governmental subsidies from the sidings track support programme of the Federal Republic of Germany. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to take a leading part in supporting the company´s application.
Customer: Terminal operator
An application for funding by a midsized intermodal terminal operator was rejected by the authorisation authority responsible. SCI Verkehr advised the client on all important aspects of the upcoming appeal proceedings and prepared the reasoning for the appeal. Furthermore, in order to develop a strategy with optimum chances of success, SCI Verkehr gathered additional information on the chances of success of the proceedings and on the optimum course of action by means of background discussions in political circles.
