Privacy policy

SCI Verkehr GmbH appreciates your interest in our company and your visit to our website. We take data protection and data security for our customers, business partners and employees very seriously. The protection of your personal data is a key concern for us. We process your data exclusively in accordance with the statutory provisions, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).

This privacy policy explains what information SCI Verkehr GmbH collects during your visit to the website and how this information is used.

If you are redirected by a link to another website that does not belong to SCI Verkehr GmbH and is not operated by us, you can see this from the changed address line in your browser. This data protection declaration does not apply to the use of these pages.

Responsible according to Art. 4 para. 7 EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is SCI Verkehr GmbH, represented by the managing directors Maria Leenen and Alexander Borchers, Schanzenstraße 117, 20357 Hamburg, Tel.: +49 40 50 71 97 0, Fax: +49 40 50 71 97 20, info@sci.de.

I. Data collection

If you visit our website purely to find information, we only collect the personal data that your browser transmits to our server. This technical data is necessary in order to display the website and ensure stability and security.

When using some websites, such as when registering for our newsletter, when you ask us to contact you and when using the "free downloads", you will be asked to provide us with certain personal data by entering it on these websites. All free downloads are also possible at SCI Verkehr GmbH without entering personal data, whereby the download gives you the opportunity to ensure that you will continue to receive relevant information or information about our new products and/or services in the future by providing your e-mail address. Only when contacting us do we have to insist on a few mandatory fields in order to be able to fulfil the respective task or enquiry. All other information can be provided voluntarily. You are also free not to provide us with the information marked as mandatory. In this case, however, we may not be able to provide you with the desired products, services or information or to contact you.

a) Visiting the website

The provider of the pages automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are

  • Browser type and browser version
  • Operating system used
  • Referrer URL
  • Host name of the accessing computer
  • Time of the server enquiry

This data is required to ensure a smooth connection setup and stable use of the website. The information is temporarily stored in a log file and saved until it is automatically deleted. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. This data is not merged with other data sources; in particular, we do not use the data collected for the purpose of drawing conclusions about your person. We reserve the right to check this data retrospectively if we become aware of specific indications of unlawful use. The log files are stored for a maximum of 7 days and then automatically deleted, unless storage is required for security reasons (e.g. to investigate a case of misuse).

b) Newsletter

Many business partners and customers instruct us in writing or in a personal conversation to send them one of our e-mail newsletters and in this context provide us with their e-mail address. This is then stored by us for the purpose of sending the newsletter. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR. By subscribing to the newsletter, you also consent to receiving occasional recommendations from us for our new products and services that may be of interest to you. Further personal data can be provided voluntarily when registering for the newsletter. Further information on this can be found in the data protection information that is displayed in every newsletter. Registration for the newsletter takes place using the so-called double opt-in procedure. This means that after registering, you will receive an e-mail asking you to confirm your registration. Your e-mail address will only be added to our mailing list after this confirmation.

You can, of course, unsubscribe from the newsletter and/or the sending of our advertising at any time and this will be clearly indicated at the bottom of the respective newsletter. Alternatively, you can also send us an e-mail to info@sci.de to unsubscribe.

c) Contact form

If you send us enquiries via the contact form, we will store the details you provide in the form, including your contact details. We will retain this data until you request its deletion, withdraw your consent for us to store it, or it is no longer necessary for us to store it (e.g. after we have fulfilled your request). Mandatory statutory provisions, particularly retention periods, remain unaffected. We will not pass on this data without your consent.

Data processing for the purpose of establishing contact is carried out in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR on the basis of your voluntarily granted consent.

II. Use and disclosure of data

In cases where you have provided us with your personal data, we will treat your data responsibly and with the utmost care. The confidentiality of your personal data is strictly safeguarded by SCI Verkehr GmbH in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and other relevant data protection regulations to protect your privacy and informational self-determination.

If we wish to use usage data from your visit to our website and merge it with your customer data in order to improve an individual product range and our services, we will obtain your express consent to this in the course of an internet dialogue. We will also inform you about the type and scope of the data collected. If you do not wish to give your consent, you can continue any dialogue without data being collected or stored, or cancel or terminate the dialogue.

Data will only be passed on to processors within the framework of a legally prescribed agreement on order processing in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.

We only pass on your personal data to third parties if:

  • You have given your express consent to this in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. a GDPR,
  • in the event that there is a legal obligation for the transfer pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. c GDPR,
  • this is legally permissible and necessary for the performance of contractual relationships with you in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. b GDPR
  • the disclosure pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR is necessary to protect your legitimate interests and there is no reason to assume that you have an overriding interest worthy of protection in not disclosing your data.

III. Cookies

Our website uses cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your end device. The latter are only set with your express consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. For this purpose, the information generated by the cookie about the use of this website is stored on our server. The IP address is anonymised before storage. IV. Analysis tools

Data processing is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR, provided that you consent via our cookie banner. You can revoke your consent at any time. We use tracking measures on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 sentence 1 lit. f GDPR. For this purpose, we use the open source software Matomo to analyse and statistically evaluate the use of the website. Cookies are used for this purpose (see section III). The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website is transmitted to our servers and summarised in pseudonymous usage profiles. This information is used to analyse website usage and enable us to design our website based on your needs. Matomo is installed locally on our servers and no data is transferred to third parties or third countries.

Under no circumstances is the IP address associated with other data relating to the user. The IP addresses are anonymised so that they cannot be assigned (IP masking).

If you do not agree to the storage and use of your data, you can deactivate the storage and use here (at the bottom of this website). In this case, an opt-out cookie is stored in your browser that prevents Matomo from storing usage data. If you delete your cookies, the Matomo opt-out cookie will also be deleted. The opt-out must be reactivated when you visit our website again.
