In addition, existing and prospective market access conditions are evaluated. Recommendations for a successful strategic positioning as well as different courses of action for the company are also being compiled.

On behalf of an investor, SCI Verkehr is analysing the market potential for (cross-border) intercity connections in Europe. In addition to evaluating routes with regard to a possible shift of short-haul flights to rail, SCI Verkehr also compares possible vehicle concepts with regard to their investment costs and performance parameters.

SCI Verkehr supported a strategic investor in its commercial due diligence on an intermodal terminal (rail-road) in Germany. This involved accompanying the development of the investor's valuation approach, assessing operational benefits/opportunities and analysing development potential.

On behalf of a financing institution, SCI Verkehr determined the current value as well as the possibilities of remarketing of modernized passenger coaches.

On behalf of an investment company, SCI Verkehr carried out a valuation update for a portfolio of electric mainline locomotives and shunting locomotives. In determining the value according to the income-based capitalised earnings method, SCI Verkehr also relied on the expert results on the technical condition of the assets. These were determined in on-site analyses by a technical expert.

In the context of purchasing four-axle diesel universal locomotives and six-axle dual mode mainline locomotives in Continental Europe, SCI Verkehr assesses the current market value of these vehicles. Evaluation is conducted by means of the income-based DCF method and includes a short documentation of methods, input parameters, market description and valuation results.

System definition and architecture of an Intelligent Freight Train, including technical feasibility and economical analysis, based on the experiences of the European railways, explicitely DB AG (Germany), SNCF (France) and FS (Italy) and on performance parameters, evaluation criteria and functional specifications to be develloped in the project (partly based on related earlier EC research projects. The project is carried out by German, French, Dutch, Italian and British railway companies, research institutes, industry and consulting firms.

Within the scope of the research project of the Hans Boeckler Foundation, SCI Verkehr GmbH is analysing the impact of internationalisation on the prospects of the medium-sized railway industry in Germany. The focus is set on Eastern Europe. Using three case studies, potential changes in value creation structures will be presented and innovation requirements from the point view of the supply industry will be analysed and assessed. The report is going to be presented in the scope of a congress towards the end of 2007.

SCI Verkehr supports an investor in the preparation of a CDD on an investment opportunity in an alternative propulsion technology for rail vehicles. Specific target markets are analysed, procurement criteria of the end customers are evaluated and the business plan is assessed and adapted together with the client.

SCI Verkehr has supported a rail undertaking in the intermodal transport segment at a VDD process. SCI Verkehr has prepared documents for the data room regarding market definition, size and development, including forecast and drivers of the market. Thereby it considered also regulations, innovations and competition. SCI Verkehr has analysed the business model of the client and prepared basic information such as KPI that were relevant for the process.

SCI Verkehr is considering possible optimisation potentials in rail vehicle maintenance on behalf of a railway transport company. The focus of the project is on improving the employment of human resources. This is to be achieved by, among other things, increasing the vertical range of manufacturing, "make or buy" decisions and extending the existing range of activities of the staff. In addition, the expansion of the company?s activities is also analysed, for example, through the implementation of a vehicle leasing or rental business and its effects on employment.

On behalf of an international transport company, SCI Verkehr took on the management of a project entailing reorganising the sales department. The project is aimed at developing a uniform sales organisation as well as professionalising the public image. SCI Verkehr supports the customer in organising the project and in terms of content-related sparring.
Customer: Global player in the beverage industry
A global player in the beverage industry is looking to optimise its logistics processes at a combined production and logistics site in Baden-Württemberg. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to re-work storage processes and logistics interfaces with other divisions such as production, distribution and sales in a collaboration with the management, works committee and employees, and to document the results afterwards.
