Customer: Private railway company
SCI Verkehr supported a private railway transport company strategically and operatively in calculating and devising a proposal for transport services in Germany. The aim was to submit an attractive, innovative and inexpensive offer for the railway sector which would allow the client to compete successfully for the transport contract and ensure sustainable economic success and customer satisfaction. SCI Verkehr carried out the conceptional, technical and editorial planning as well as operative and organizational support.
Customer: Rail transport company
SCI Verkehr supports a rail transport company in building and developing its fleet strategy. For this purpose, market-related aspects as well as future technological, operational and infrastructural requirements related to rail transport are analysed. Analyses of the selection of potential manufacturers and possibilities to finance the fleet are also provided as part of this project.
Customer: Global player in the beverage industry
A global player in the beverage industry had decided to establish a new location in Germany. Considering the given framework conditions, SCI Verkehr supported the company in finding suitable real estate. For this, SCI Verkehr researched and appraised potential properties. Based on this, the company selected a new location.
Customer: Rolling stock manufacturer
On behalf of a rolling stock manufacturer, SCI Verkehr analyses the fleets of railway companies with regard to services. Taking the perspective of a maintenance provider, focus is put on identifying market potentials for modernisations and revisions as well as assessing the market development of individual vehicle segments, countries and regions.

On behalf of an international technology group, SCI Verkehr has identified all turnkey projects of the last 15 years in Asia, the Middle East and South and Central America including important key data to support the client in the market valuation.
Customer: Industry
SCI Verkehr GmbH analysed all German vehicle owners? current vehicle inventories and their demand for wheelsets. The study?s second main focus was on a detailed survey of mamagement structures and strategies in the procurement of wheelsets with special emphasis on the principal German rail vehicle owners.
Customer: International leasing company
On behalf of an international leasing company, SCI Verkehr assessed the asset value development of electric multi-system locomotives over their lifecycle. The examination used the ?Asset Value Tool? developed by SCI Verkehr and included both an analysis of the technical vehicle value as well as statements about the possible re-use of the locomotives in other countries. The expert appraisal was complemented by a detailed analysis of various types of vehicle with different power systems and country packages and a price benchmark for modern electric locomotives.
Customer: Financier
On behalf of a financier, SCI Verkehr assesses the current and future expected vehicle value of used diesel railcars. The valuation is carried out taking into account the cost-based RC valuation approach as well as including known used vehicle transactions and an analysis of the secondary market.

As part of an annual portfolio update, SCI Verkehr completed a valuation of a large fleet of locomotives, freight wagons, multiple units and passenger coaches that are used in Europe. The valuation using the income-based DCF method included an extensive market analysis.
Customer: European Union
SCI Verkehr will carry out a cost-benefit analysis for the EU to evaluate the economic effects of interoperability guidelines for conventional transport. In particular, the consequences of interoperability for the railway industry will be identified and evaluated in cooperation with the AEIF.
Customer: Ministerium für Wirtschaft und Mittelstand, Energie und Verkehr des Landes NRW (The Ministry for Economy and Small Business, Energy and Traffic of State North Rhine-Westphalia)
Preparation of subject matter, management, and follow-up of the delegation journey of the Minister for Economy and Small Business, Energy and Traffic of State North Rhine-Westphalia, Herr Ernst Schwanhold, to Bulgaria. Main components were the acquisition of about 30 companies from the transportation field in North Rhine Westphalia, the research into, the processing and presentation of the market environment in Bulgaria for the NRW enterprises, the identification of demand in Bulgaria and NRW, plus the concept development and management of a co-operation exchange for in total 90 companies from Bulgaria and NRW.

A leading company in beverage logistics operates its own large fleet of trucks. In order to increase the efficiency of the fleet, SCI Verkehr presented an analysis of the most important positive drivers as a first step. The second step was to change the most important basic conditions in terms of profitability.
Customer: Transport authority
SCI Verkehr evaluated the economic feasibility of the selected bids for a transport authority in the context of a procurement of new light rail vehicles (LRV). To this end, SCI Verkehr evaluated the tender documents and carried out a price benchmark to determine market prices for LRV.
Customer: Financial institution
SCI Verkehr developed a cash flow model for a financial institution for a European leasing company. The model calculates the companys expected profits until 2030 under market-realistic assumptions. It also calculates ratios such as loan-to-value and debt service coverage ratio based on a valuation of the fleet.
Customer: Medium-sized forwarding company
A medium-sized forwarding company is planning to extend its existing railways siding and to improve it by setting up a handling hall. In order to construct these facilities, the company will seek governmental subsidies from the sidings track support programme of the Federal Republic of Germany. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to take a leading part in supporting the company´s application.
Customer: Logistic company
The European liberalisation of railway traffic allows the utilisation of the infrastructure by private railway transportation enterprises also across national borders. However, as opposed to the state railways, the regional railways cannot make use of the simplified common shipping procedure but are subject to the regulating procedures of the common / community shipping procedure. With this report a recommendation was developed for procedural management under the existing conditions.
