The logistics organisation within a globally active company's production plant was completely reorganized by SCI Verkehr in accordance with the employer as well as the employee side. After the essential parts were implemented, SCI Verkehr received a contract extension that included adjacent areas of operation, such as fleet management, in the reorganization. In this step, measures from previously changed areas of operation were evaluated.
Customer: International company for rolling stock maintenance
SCI Verkehr supported an international company for rolling stock maintenance with regards to bid-management of a tender for regional passenger rail transport. SCI Verkehr´ s tasks included conceptual, economic and editorial support in terms of tender preparation, as well as operational and organisational support within the bid process. Designing the interface between maintenance companies, transport companies, and responsible bodies presented a challenge.

SCI Verkehr presents highlights of the dynamics in the railway industry to institutional investors at a conference. Focus is put on competition among rolling stock manufacturers as well as their current and expected expansion efforts.

For a supplier in the rolling stock segment, SCI Verkehr annually provides data on market shares and market volumes for its strategic planning. The figures are differentiated by both vehicle segments and regions.
Customer: International credit institute
The market for rolling stock operating leasing has seen significant growth over the past years. Against this backdrop, SCI Verkehr analysed the demand for operating leasing for locomotives, multiple units and wagon trains in selected European countries. The forecast up to the year 2015 was performed within the context of railway-specific influencing factors such as transport development, fleet structure and procurement plans as well as the increasing importance of private railway companies as customers for operating leasing. These dynamics in rail freight transport are being driven by the opening up of the European railway network and associated short-term contracts. In regional rail transport as well, increasing competition for transport services and contract durations which are shorter than the life-cycle of a vehicle are leading to growing demand.

On behalf of a supplier, SCI Verkehr configures a database including general information as well as technical features of various diesel multiple unit fleets and diesel locomotive fleets.
Customer: Rail vehicle lessor
On behalf of a locomotive lessor, SCI Verkehr assesses the current and future market values of electric single and multi-system locomotives. An Income-based valuation methods is applied.
Customer: Refinancing credit institution
On behalf of a refinancing credit institution, SCI Verkehr carries out initial and subsequent valuations for a large portfolio consisting of passenger cars, locomotives and freight wagons in Europe and North America. The results of the calculation are internally used by the client for the assessment of credit risks.
Customer: Leasing company
On behalf of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr evaluated the market environment for dual-mode locomotives. Both flexible application possibilities due to the dual-mode drive (electric or diesel engine) and the respective application advantages of four and six-axle locomotives were examined in more detail. Both a cost-based and an income-based valuation following international standards completed the analysis.

Market study of testing needs for railway vehicles and components in Germany and neighbouring countries. Conception of an extended Railway competency center in Wegberg-Wildenrath, in accordance with the forecast of needs for 2005.
Customer: LOG-IT Club e.V.
Since the foundation of the LOG-IT Club e.V. in November 2002, SCI Verkehr has conducted the business of the association. This includes the support of the association committees, account management, budgetary control and acceptance of new members.
Customer: last mile logistik netzwerk gmbh
Study of the development of logistics employment statistics in the network region of last-mile-logistik in comparison with the surrounding area, the Ruhr area, North Rhine Westphalia and Germany. The study looked at the employment levels both in the core sector of the logistics industry (transport, handling, warehousing) and also at the development of manning statistics in other industry and trade companies with logistic activities.
Customer: Federal Ministry
In the context of a research project, SCI Verkehr analyses the efficiency, i.e. Life Cycle Costs (LCC) of different freight wagons in operation. Therefore, a LCC model is designed which particularly assesses the use of innovative components in an economical manner. Not only investment and operating costs, but the entire freight wagon in operation is assessed. In doing so, the cost/benefit analysis is not restricted to wagon owners, and advantages for operators, shippers and the environment can also be taken into account and evaluated.
Customer: Midsized brewery
A midsized brewery planned to make comprehensive changes to its logistical structures based upon the expertise of an external advisor. This mainly concerned the warehouses at the production site. SCI Verkehr carried out a cross-check of the assumptions and calculations. Furthermore, SCI Verkehr accompanied the dialogue process between the works council and management on the basis of a technical expertise.

A leading European rail freight company has to reorganize itself completely in terms of profitability, efficiency and reliability. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to support the restructuring process actively and to bring in expertise in railway operation, processes and strategy. Focus is also put on close involvement in terms of co-determination .
