A leading company in the beverage industry planned to shut down a filling plant in Germany. SCI Verkehr analysed the effects on the group’s logistics structure and accompanied negotiations regarding reconciliation of interests with the local works council.

SCI Verkehr supports a rail transport company in building and developing its fleet strategy. For this purpose, market-related aspects as well as future technological, operational and infrastructural requirements related to rail transport are analysed. Analyses of the selection of potential manufacturers and possibilities to finance the fleet are also provided as part of this project.

On behalf of the owner of a larger locomotive fleet, SCI Verkehr analyzed the market for maintenance services in Europe and derived a workshop strategy from it. A concept has been developed for both operational and heavy maintenance of the fleet that ensures sufficient availability of maintenance services in terms of time and space.

SCI Verkehr analysed the international market for point machines on behalf of a manufacturer of control and signalling equipment. In addition to a calculation and forecast of market volume, SCI Verkehr also compiled and analysed the manufacturers of point machines.

On behalf of a potential investor in the locomotive business, SCI Verkehr carries out a workshop discussing benefits and disadvantages as well as value and secondary marketing opportunities of the assets.

On behalf of a European railways, SCI Verkehr assesses modern passenger coaches to be operated in cross-border intercity traffic. Assessment is based on the cost-based DRC method and includes a detailed supply- and demand analysis.
Customer: International credit institute
On behalf of an international credit institute, SCI Verkehr analysed the value development of rolling stock over their entire useful life. In the project we defined individual asset categories in the field of passenger vehicles and locomotives using an analysis of demand from the client, and building upon this we developed generally applicable value curves for an internal portfolio assessment. To do this we used an evaluation of future demand for rolling stock in Europe.

SCI Verkehr supported a private railway company in the strategic and operational preparation of a bid for transport services in Germany. The aim is to submit an attractive, innovative and cost-efficient offer for rail services, on the basis of which the client will be successful in the competition for the transport service contract. SCI Verkehr performed the conceptual and technical planning, the editorial preparation and operational and organisational support.

SCI Verkehr supported a leading European rail freight transport company in central restructuring processes. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr developed own and analysed existing market expectations. At the same time, benchmarks regarding the entrepreneurial organisation of production and sales units were been developed. SCI Verkehr prepared, accompanied and evaluated the processes for implementing the restructuring.
Customer: Local transport Westphalia-Lippe
SCI Verkehr prepared a study concerning supplementary plans of local transport in Westphalia-Lippe along four RRX corridors in Westphalia. The effects of the plans on mobility, economy and the environment in Westphalia-Lippe were examined. Included were, inter alia, analyses of passenger transport potentials, travel times, commuter traffic, connections to the other forms of public transport and environmental impacts. The results were prepared in a recipient-oriented way and were published by the PTA Nahverkehr Westfalen-Lippe.

Checking the plausibility of a plan to reduce capacity and close sites for heavy maintenance. Preparing recommendations for the next steps with the objective of maintaining as many competitive jobs in the maintenance plants as possible.

SCI Verkehr developed a cash flow model for a financial institution for a European leasing company. The model calculates the companys expected profits until 2030 under market-realistic assumptions. It also calculates ratios such as loan-to-value and debt service coverage ratio based on a valuation of the fleet.

SCI Verkehr is considering possible optimisation potentials in rail vehicle maintenance on behalf of a railway transport company. The focus of the project is on improving the employment of human resources. This is to be achieved by, among other things, increasing the vertical range of manufacturing, "make or buy" decisions and extending the existing range of activities of the staff. In addition, the expansion of the company?s activities is also analysed, for example, through the implementation of a vehicle leasing or rental business and its effects on employment.

SCI Verkehr is supporting a leading European freight transport company in the reorganisation of its corporate strategy. In the process, all relevant internal and external factors for all forms of production in rail freight transport are examined and subjected to a strategic review. The aim is to redesign selected areas of the company in order to achieve greater economic efficiency and resilience.
