On behalf of a rolling stock manufacturer, SCI Verkehr analyses the fleets of railway companies with regard to services. Taking the perspective of a maintenance provider, focus is put on identifying market potentials for modernisations and revisions as well as assessing the market development of individual vehicle segments, countries and regions.
Customer: leasing company
On behalf of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr is analysing the demand for assets in European rail transport. The developments in both rail freight and passenger transport up to the year 2030 are examined more closely in order to derive specific requirements in the locomotive and multiple unit segment.
Customer: National credit institute
On behalf of a credit institute, SCI Verkehr determines fair value and future value-over-time of a railcar fleet in Germany. Valuation is conducted by means of the cost-based DRC method. An essential aspect of valuation is the effect of refurbishment measures on the vehicle value.
Customer: Rolling stock financing company
For one of the leading European financial services providers for rail vehicles, SCI Verkehr evaluated a fleet of locomotives, passenger vehicles and high-speed trains. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr used a specially developed valuation model that takes into account various performance parameters of the vehicles.
Customer: International leasing company
For an internationally active leasing company, SCI Verkehr analysed the European market for rolling stock leasing in the freight transport segment. SCI Verkehr examined important national markets and the key European players in rail freight transport and the leasing market for locomotives and freight wagons. The analysis also included the effects of the current financial and economic crisis on the development of demand in the rail freight transport sector.
Customer: European Union ? Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions
An examination of the changes in working conditions at railway transport companies in Europe. Detailed studies were compiled for the countries Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Great Britain and Sweden.
Customer: Trans-shipping company in North Rhine-Westphalia
Over the past several years, a mid-sized trans-shipping company has experienced substantial growth at its KV trans-shipping terminal. SCI Verkehr drafted an application for funding that would enable further expansion of the terminal. The application process included contact with government authorities. The result is still pending.
Customer: International consulting firm
On behalf of an international consulting firm, SCI Verkehr analysed the development of tenders for commuter rail services in Germany. In addition to an analysis of all known and planned tenders by the contracting authorities, SCI Verkehr also performed an allocation of the commuter rail vehicles currently in operation. An overview of the contract standards of all German contracting authorities was complemented by a differentiation by gross contracts and net contracts.

SCI Verkehr assists the works council of a large food / logistics company in the assessment and analysis of structural measures by the company and supports the development of alternative (logistics) concepts.

Comparison of specific cost types to those of other commuter rail systems in Germany by means of defined, meaningful benchmarks. Identification of cost reduction potentials, possible ways ans implications of their realisation. Support to the client in the design of the transport service contract. Coordination of a joint negotiation strategy and participation in the trials. Survey of arguments and recommendations to the client.
Customer: Global player in the food industry
Changes in the client?s product and packaging mix led to an open discussion about the site structure in both production and logistics. Not only the future scale and location of the sites were up for discussion, but also the issue of the function of individual areas of production and logistics. SCI Verkehr hosted the dialogue between the employees and employer on these matters and incorporated its experience in supporting site changes into the discussion process.
Customer: Railway undertaking
On behalf of a railway undertaking, SCI Verkehr is analysing the effects of the introduction of Digital Automatic Coupling (DAK) on the performance of rail freight transport. As part of a meta-study, SCI Verkehr summarises the results of various studies on the DAK and its effects in line and shunting operations and evaluates them with regard to an increase in capacity after the successful migration of the DAK after 2030.
