In the context of the acquisition of a large international rolling stock portfolio, SCI Verkehr supports a potential bidder in evaluating the portfolio and with regards to assessing potentials and risks of the transaction. For this purpose, documents taken from the data room were evaluated and worldwide vehicle markets were analysed.

For a European manufacturer of rail vehicle components, SCI Verkehr analysed the market and competitive landscape in the European and Chinese market for wheelsets. Recommendations for the market entry strategy in the Chinese market complemented the market and competition analysis.
Customer: Component supplier for rolling stock traction system
SCI analysed the global market for selected rolling stock types and thereby the target markets for components of the traction system. In addition to the demand side, SCI focused on changes in the competitive picture in the industry. The results were presented and discussed as part of an internal strategy workshop for the management of a rolling stock component supplier.

Study of the Chinese market for railway vehicles. Under this project, which also involves local partners, the present stock of vehicles and known order volumes is tabulated and and based on this a forecast of the future purchasing behavior developed. The second focus of the project is a detailed analysis of the strategic approach of the Chinese railway industry, in particular, the makers of rail vehicles and mechanical components.

On behalf of a supplier group, SCI Verkehr analyses the deliveries of rolling stock according to segments in a differentiated manner and semi-annually provides data for its strategic planning. The figures are regionally differentiated and take into account current drivers in the individual markets.
Customer: International financing company
For an international financing company SCI Verkehr analysed the current vehicle value and future value development of used DMUs. The examination was carried out using an analysis of future tenders in the German commuter transport market.
Customer: Freight rail
On behalf of a European rail freight operator, SCI Verkehr determines the market value of the company's own fleet of locomotives and freight wagons. The market value is determined taking into account a special accounting standard with a cost-based valuation approach including the current supply and demand situation for the corresponding assets.
Customer: International private equity investment company
SCI Verkehr supported an international investment company in the financing of modern mainline locomotives. Based on a market analysis and an extensive asset benchmark, SCI Verkehr valued the assets using the DRC valuation approach.

IG Metall commissioned SCI Verkehr to document the sector conference of works committee in the railway industry which took place in Berlin on 14th and 15th February 2006. Alongside documenting the presentations, SCI Verkehr also compiled the working group results as well as providing a summary of the contents of the speeches contributed. In addition, the sector conference was also photographed with the aim of compiling comprehensive conference documentation.
Customer: North Rhine Westphalia Ministry of Transport, Energy and Regional Planning
Conception and organization of the North Rhine-Westphalia Railway Initiative between 2003 and 2005. In the second project phase starting in 2004, a founded analysis of qualification requirements of the rail transport economy is being conducted. The recruitment of young experts is also being encouraged, and a specialized science conference in North Rhine-Westphalia will be prepared and supported. In the third phase (2005), a new start was made with a public event featuring the minister in january 2005 as well as a publicly effective presentation of the market study ?Rail Market North Rhine Westphalia?. Within the ?Workshop series New Rail?, following a cycle of 2-3 months, specific events on different subjects are offered to intrested companies. Like in 2001 and 2003, the second half of 2005 is dedicated to the preparation and implementation of the international trade fair ?Rail#tec 2005?.

The works committee and logistics management of a global player in the food industry intended to initiate an open dialogue about the future optimisation of logistical processes with external support. By conducting talks with both sides, SCI Verkehr prepared the dialogue, hosted the meetings of a joint working group and provided specialist input with the aim of developing a common perception of the logistical future of the company.

With the objective of realising rationalisation potential in distribution and warehousing, our client planned to consolidate three logistics sites into one central location near to production. In order to achieve this, the existing logistics site had to be restored using construction measures. SCI Verkehr as a neutral expert was involved in the decision-making process with regard to necessary investments and performed a cross checking of assumptions and calculations made. The expert's report focused on the personnel and investments required.

SCI Verkehr supported an Asian manufacturer of rolling stock in a European tram tender process. This included an analysis of the tender documents and preparatory background talks as well as the recommendation of a suitable product and project strategy.
