On behalf of a leading Asian freight wagon supplier, SCI Verkehr has developed a market entry strategy in consultation with the client. As a basis for this, SCI Verkehr has analysed markets and their competition dynamics in detail, including freight rail operators, freight wagon producers and leasing companies. Strategic pathways for further business development in the analysed markets were presented, including opportunities and risks of the different business models.
Customer: European rolling stock manufacturer
The client successfully operates in the European rolling stock construction segment and requires professional input on issues of global market and competition development within the scope of its annual strategy workshop with management and the supervisory committee. The focus is on the potential in the US market. SCI Verkehr compiled a presentation which represents the basis of the strategic discussion as a source of facts and motivation.

On behalf of a private equity company, SCI Verkehr identified market segments in the railway industry with high growth potential. In addition, SCI Verkehr assessed the potential for a private equity share and supported the client in the acquisition process.
Customer: International Infrastructure Fund
On behalf of an infrastructure fund, SCI Verkehr analysed the German market for long-distance passenger transport. In addition to an overview of the structure of the open access market, the focus is on demand and development of transport performance. SCI Verkehr forecasted the medium and long-term development in various scenarios for selected routes. The development of road and air transport is also taken into account.

On behalf of a banking consortium, SCI Verkehr analyses market shares of different rolling stock segments differentiated according to specific regions and countries. This competitive analysis shows the manufacturers’ positioning in different segments.
Customer: Component manufacturer
On behalf of a leading component manufacturer, SCI Verkehr analysed demand, potential market volume and entrance requirements for innovative freight wagon components. For this, information from the SCI database was evaluated and expert interviews with wagon keepers were conducted.

On behalf of an investor SCI Verkehr carried out a workshop on current developments in the European market for locomotive leasing and rail freight.
Customer: International banking house
On behalf of an international banking house, SCI Verkehr rendered an expert opinion for electric freight transport locomotives intended for operation in Germany and France and compiled a current value appraisal. In addition to a technical appraisal of the vehicles, SCI Verkehr analysed the maintenance concept and the definition of key figures to determine penalties in the event of excessive wear on the vehicles.
Customer: Infrastructure fund
SCI Verkehr supports an infrastructure fund with regards to the acquisition of used electric multi-system locomotives. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr prepares a report comprising market analyses as well as detailed assessment including sensitivity analysis of the most important input parameters.

In April 2018, the competence-net Logistics.NRW was launched as innovation and partner network of the state of NRW. Activities of the network are directed at the subject areas of innovation and digitalisation in particular. On behalf of LOG-IT Club eV., SCI Verkehr, in close cooperation with the alliance of transport economics and logistics, organises all specialist and organisational activities related to continuous networking.

In autumn 2015, LogistikCluster NRW entered a new phase. The cluster's activities will focus even more intensively on the topics of growth, innovation and digitalisation. SCI Verkehr organises all technical and organisational activities for the LOG-IT Club e.V. in close cooperation with the Association of the Transport Industry and Logistics.
Customer: Industrial company
An industrial wasteland in the centre of the Ruhr Valley is the subject of plans for new industrial and/or logistical development. With regard to marketing the areas, it has to be decided whether to keep the existing private siding and, if so, in what form. SCI Verkehr has derived a railway-related development concept based on the relevant technical, legal and economical factors. It includes various different strategies for the detailed conversion of the area needed to best meet the requirements of the (still unknown) companies wishing to locate in the area, the sequence of the development stages, costs and revenues from construction and operation and how these would be distributed between involved parties. With the aid of well-founded/backed up documents, SCI Verkehr has been able to accompany the entire decision process regarding the dismantling or keeping of the private siding.
Customer: Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport
In the Z-SGV project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Transport, WILSON LEARN, a \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"machine learning\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\" algorithm is to be optimised and tested that generates valid real-time proposals for efficient, operational staff scheduling in rail freight transport. SCI Verkehr is responsible for evaluating the cost-effectiveness and usability of the solution for rail freight transport in the project. Other project partners are Menlo79 GmbH, Havelländische Eisenbahn AG and Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum für Informationstechnik Berlin.
Customer: Public Transport Authority
SCI Verkehr evaluated the economic feasibility of the selected bids for a public transport authority in the context of a procurement of new urban transport vehicles. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr evaluated the bid documents and carried out a price benchmark to determine the usual market prices of metro vehicles.
Customer: Industrial company
The contract between DB Netz AG and an industrial company concerning the operation of a siding was unilaterally terminated and is going to be replaced by a new agreement to terms in line with the market. SCI Verkehr advised the siding operator on all technical and strategic issues, independently conducted the dialogue with DB Netz AG, reviewed all essential documents and took part in the official negotiations for the contract.
Customer: Logistic company
The European liberalisation of railway traffic allows the utilisation of the infrastructure by private railway transportation enterprises also across national borders. However, as opposed to the state railways, the regional railways cannot make use of the simplified common shipping procedure but are subject to the regulating procedures of the common / community shipping procedure. With this report a recommendation was developed for procedural management under the existing conditions.
