The Rotterdam - Genoa axis is going to be developed into the first major European corridor to use ETCS/ERTMS. SCI Verkehr assisted a leading industrial company in developing the research project for testing ETCS/ERTMS. We analysed the assistance criteria and evaluated them for the concrete project concept, we identified and brought in project partners, compiled the necessary application documents and accompanying documents in cooperation with the client and ensured communication with funding institutions.

On behalf of a component manufacturer, SCI Verkehr developed a market potential analysis for a rolling stock component based on the accessible market in OEM business as well as sales potentials of the components in after-sales business.

SCI Verkehr conducted a market and customer analysis for ECM services on behalf of a service provider for rail vehicle maintenance. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with various market participants. As a result, SCI Verkehr determined the market potential for its customer.

SCI Verkehr supported a financial service provider with a regular high-level monitoring report on the European rolling stock market. In the scope of the project, SCI Verkehr provided a report on a quarterly basis including the current transportation figures as well as most important events with a focus on railway operators, manufacturers and leasing companies.

On behalf of a globally active rolling stock maintenance provider, SCI Verkehr analyses and assesses the market for maintenance services of all vehicle segments. Based on this, potentials for the provider are deduced. Assessment of potentials forms the basis for the future focus of the maintenance business.

On behalf of a supplier, SCI Verkehr provided data on production volumes and future projects in the rail vehicle market. A differentiation was made by market regions and vehicle segments.
Customer: European rail freight operator
On behalf of a European rail freight operator, SCI Verkehr appraised a fleet of diesel shunting locomotives. For this, SCI Verkehr analysed the supply and demand situation of the respective assets and carried out a cost-based DRC valuation to determine the current market value (FV and OLV).
Customer: Rail funds
On behalf of a financial service provider, SCI Verkehr assessed the current market values of electric and diesel locomotives. Values were assessed by means of an income-based method as well as on-site assessment of the locomotives.
Customer: Financier
SCI Verkehr supports a financier in the bidding process for vehicle financing through expert discussions on e-locomotives. The focus is on market values, supply and demand development and deployment risks.

With the intention of implementation, at the beginning of 2006 joint cluster management for innovation transfer, location marketing and an economic, scientific and research network is to be established with partners from the general economy. The following primary aims were pursued within the framework of this logistics initiative: a. assurance and creation of jobs in the logistics sector and logistics-related sectors, and an increase in competitiveness (14,000 by 2015; EUR 6 billion added value) ¬ creation of competitive advantages for existing companies, ¬ relocation of companies in logistics-related fields b. creation and expansion of existing logistics competence in the region through networking the market players as a location factor in the region c. utilisation of synergy effects with the competence clusters ?multimedia, IT and telecommunications? and ?aviation?

Together with two partners, SCI evaluated the funding guidelines of a German federal ministry. The impact of the funding was assessed using statistical and qualitative evaluation criteria, and examples of adjustments for the future were developed.
Customer: Transport industry association
On behalf of a transport industry association, SCI Verkehr compiles an overview of all German regional rail transport tenders from 2016 to 2025, which is updated on a regular basis. Focus is placed on current wage and social standards, in particular. The SCI DATABASE, in which all announced and expected regional rail transport tenders are compiled systematically, serves as basis for this analysis.
Customer: Allianz pro Schiene
Working for Allianz pro Schiene and in co-operation with the IFEU institute in Heidelberg, SCI Verkehr is preparing the evaluation parameters for an "environmental comparison - rail transport" and their transformation to a transparent and (in view of different framework conditions) just measuring system. It is intended for use as tool for assessing railway transport companies and their rail vehicles in terms of environmental compatibility and under a public competition also as a marketing tool in favor of rail-bound transport.

SCI Verkehr critically examined the business plan of a leasing company in the run-up to a possible due diligence. The focus was on the evaluation of the current portfolio and the management's assumptions regarding growth potential. For this purpose, a benchmark of current and expected future leasing rates and the occupancy rate was also carried out.

SCI Verkehr supports a leading railway operator in the conceptual reorganisation of essential parts of rail freight transport. For this purpose, available concepts are reviewed and new approaches to advancing this field of business are developed and evaluated. It is aimed at achieving higher efficiency in this segment by reorganising responsibilities and processes in production and sales.

SCI Verkehr is supporting a leading European freight transport company in the reorganisation of its corporate strategy. In the process, all relevant internal and external factors for all forms of production in rail freight transport are examined and subjected to a strategic review. The aim is to redesign selected areas of the company in order to achieve greater economic efficiency and resilience.
Customer: Global player in the food industry
Our client took over a site previously operated by a service provider and at the beginning of 2008 integrated it into its network of sites across Germany. This integration included major changes to the processes and the IT system which had to be adapted to the requirements of the new owner. At the same time, the production and distribution volume increased substantially, as well as production exchange with other sites. These changes led to overworking and uncertainty among staff and consequently considerable deficits in the site?s performance. Within the scope of the "operational excellence" process, SCI Verkehr led and accompanied the modelling of new logistical processes with staff and company management. The consultancy process focused on using the existing employee know-how in order to achieve a higher level of acceptance for the necessary changes and thus a sustainable improvement of performance. Following SCI Verkehr?s ?Operational Excellence Tool?, the staff were involved in reviewing the current situation and developing improved processes in accordance with a tried and tested process. In addition, the task involved coaching the logistical managers at the site and thus cementing the new structures.
