Customer: Asian freight wagon supplier
On behalf of a leading Asian freight wagon supplier, SCI Verkehr has developed a market entry strategy in consultation with the client. As a basis for this, SCI Verkehr has analysed markets and their competition dynamics in detail, including freight rail operators, freight wagon producers and leasing companies. Strategic pathways for further business development in the analysed markets were presented, including opportunities and risks of the different business models.

SCI Verkehr supported an internationally active institutional investor in the business valuation of a European freight car leasing company. Inputs for the business plan were provided and validated and the valuation model is built together with an external valuer.
Customer: Private equity investor
On behalf of a private equity investor, SCI Verkehr carried out a Commercial Due Diligence of a locomotive lessor in the Eastern European rail freight transport market. This Commercial Due Diligence also comprised an in-depth asset evaluation of used locomotives by means of the DCF and DRC methodology, which provided a detailed analysis of the special situations in individual Eastern European markets.

On behalf of a global manufacturer of components SCI Verkehr investigates the market for railway technology with focus on sensor solutions in relevant European countries.
Customer: Global industrial enterprise
On behalf of a global industrial enterprise active in the railway sector, SCI Verkehr determined all the current and future acquisition and refurbishment projects for passenger rail vehicles. The project list is updated semi-annually.
Customer: Railway operator
As basis for a vehicle strategy, SCI Verkehr, on behalf of a rail freight operator, determines the size of the heavy freight locomotive fleet in continental Europe.
Customer: Financial service provider
Under instruction of the financial service provider, SCI Verkehr prepares a value report for new motor coaches which will be funded under a foreign loan and whose asset values serve as security. Therefore, the terms of the loan depend essentially on the stability of the value of these vehicles, which is calculated by means of an "Asset Value Tool" developed by SCI Verkehr.
Customer: Leasing company
SCI Verkehr evaluated a fleet of timber wagons for a leading German leasing company. The valuation was carried out using the cost-based RC method in accordance with IVS 2022. In addition, an overview of the timber transport market in Continental Europe was prepared.

On behalf of a long-standing customer, SCI Verkehr, once again, analyses the value-over-time of a freight wagon portfolio, applying the latest calculation models and market prognoses. With regard to the supply and demand situation in the different markets relevant to the vehicles, the latest analytical calculations as well as current benchmarks were applied.
Customer: Ministry of Economics and Labour of the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia
Main task in the fifth year of the initiative was the improvement, primarily of the corporate services (such as participation in fairs and exhibitions, logistics advancement program LogMit, website, logistics infoservice, etc.). In addition to strengthening the logistics industry in North Rhine Westphalia, another main target is to improve the international marketing of the logistics industry of the state. Target markets include, in addition to the U.S.A., primarily Asia (Japan, China) and Russia.
Customer: Regional and commuter rail transport authority
On behalf of an authority, SCI Verkehr developed and implemented a new quality management system for regional and commuter rail transport contracts. The customer´s aim was to use this quality ranking for an image-building publication. In the context of modelling, relevant valuation parameters were defined and evaluated according to their significance to passengers. Comparability of different transport operations posed another challenge.

On behalf of a globally active chemical company, SCI Verkehr analysed the market potential for painting raw materials. The in-depth analysis evaluated the market potential for these materials and provided a basis for further strategic planning.

SCI Verkehr supported a strategic investor in its commercial due diligence on an intermodal terminal (rail-road) in Germany. This involved accompanying the development of the investor's valuation approach, assessing operational benefits/opportunities and analysing development potential.
Customer: Logistics Group
On the basis of its own preliminary studies, SCI Verkehr, together with partners, is supporting a globally active logistics group in the development of its own rail strategy. The activities take place within the framework of the implementation of the group's CO2 targets. Internal quantities are analysed and concrete strategic approaches to shifting are developed.

The works committee and logistics management of a global player in the food industry intended to initiate an open dialogue about the future optimisation of logistical processes with external support. By conducting talks with both sides, SCI Verkehr prepared the dialogue, hosted the meetings of a joint working group and provided specialist input with the aim of developing a common perception of the logistical future of the company.
