Forecast of a target fleet of locomotives and suppliers ETCS onboard strategy

On behalf of a railway infrastructure operator, SCI Verkehr analysed the current locomotive fleet and its existing equipment with ETCS and prepared a forecast of the expected future locomotive fleet over the next ten years. This analysis took into account infrastructural, operational and on-board developments and also considered the roadmap of the main European suppliers of ETCS equipment and their long-term strategy.

On behalf of a financier, SCI Verkehr analyses the transport market and the resulting needs with regard to the procurement of new assets. In addition to the purely quantitative forecast of the transport market, a differentiation is made according to segments, corridors and changes in the (political) framework conditions. Therefore, the specifications of required assets (performance requirements, multi-system capability, etc.) for traction units are also estimated and - taking into account existing fleets - transferred into the demand forecast.

Analysis and forecast of price development for passenger vehicles in Europe

Customer: International leasing company

On behalf of an international leasing company, SCI Verkehr identified, evaluated and verified by means of expert interviews the key factors (especially the manufacturer landscape) influencing the development of the price of rail passenger vehicles. We then forecast the price development for the period 2008?2012 and derived scenarios for the period 2012?2017. Using the results, SCI was able to provide the client with relevant recommendations for future action.

On behalf of a European leasing company, SCI Verkehr valued an extensive portfolio of freight transport and passenger transport vehicles. The DCF valuation was carried out according to the IVS standard (2020). SCI Verkehr presented the valuation results to the client´s management during an on-site meeting.

On behalf of an international financing company, SCI Verkehr analysed the current value of a diesel locomotive portfolio using the capitalised earnings method. SCI Verkehr analysed the current and expected lease rates and new vehicle prices, as well as costs for maintenance and general inspection.

SCI Verkehr will carry out a cost-benefit analysis for the EU to evaluate the economic effects of interoperability guidelines for conventional transport. In particular, the consequences of interoperability for the railway industry will be identified and evaluated in cooperation with the AEIF.
