On behalf of a leading logistics service provider in Europe, SCI Verkehr identified, analysed and evaluated trends and growth developments in the global E-commerce markets as well as future growth potentials. On this basis, we developed and prepared concrete business cases for the client to be implemented.
Customer: Global player of the beverage industry
In 2012, SCI Verkehr carried out an "Operational Excellence Project" at a logistics site of a beverage manufacturer. As part of the project, the operational logistics processes were developed completely new and logistics infrastructure were adapted to the changed processes. Six months after completion of the project, SCI Verkehr evaluated the project results at the site to keep the (logistics) performance at a high level.
Customer: German banking institution
Prior to an investment decision by a banking institution, SCI Verkehr prepared an analysis of the railway market in Estonia. The focus was on demand for locomotives, competition and operators in rail passenger and freight transport and the development of the railway infrastructure.
Customer: Worldwide technology group
On behalf of a supplier of rail vehicles, SCI Verkehr conducted a global analysis of established and anticipated refurbishment and modernisation projects of passenger vehicles including the relevant players and measures.
Customer: Rail freight operator
SCI Verkehr analyses road transport volume and prices for selected routes in Europe. The potential for shifting goods from road to rail is estimated based on these findings. Moreover, an overview of the intermodal segment as well as the main international transport flows in Europe are provided as a background for the potential analysis.

In the context of a purchase of used diesel mainline locomotives in Europe, SCI Verkehr assesses the current market value of these vehicles. Valuation is conducted by means of the income-based DCF valuation method and includes a short documentation of methods, input parameters, market descriptions and valuation results.

On behalf of a financial investor, SCI Verkehr analysed the European rail transport market as well as options for entering the European leasing market. SCI Verkehr assisted the company in its market entry by analysing the value developments of potential assets as well as carrying out analyses of goods flows for a selection of suitable assets.

For an annual portfolio update, SCI Verkehr has analysed a shunting locomotive fleet in terms of its current market value. SCI Verkehr has taken into consideration prices for new rolling stock, leasing rates and the development of the market for used vehicles.
Customer: Allianz pro Schiene
On behalf of Allianz pro Schiene e.V., SCI Verkehr is professionally assisting the conception and implementation of three workshops on the subject of ?Environment and Rail Transport?. The range of tasks includes selecting the speakers, support in terms of speakers? inquiries, compiling and producing the meeting documents as well as looking after the speakers and participants on site.

Within the scope of the Dortmund project, the Dortmund Economic Development Corporation has identified the logistics sector as one of the most important up-and-coming markets in the city. For this reason a cluster manager was appointed who is responsible for maintaining stocks and the relocations of logistics-related industry. Through contacts in Korea, a delegation of the Korean International Logistics Council was encouraged to come to Dortmund. Within the scope of this visit, SCI Verkehr is developing a specialist event on the subject of the ?logistics market Korea? and is responsible for the entire event management, the selection of speakers, inviting sector specialists and hosting the event in Dortmund.
Customer: Freight wagon manufacturer
SCI Verkehr advised a manufacturer of innovative freight wagons on the acquisition of financing models with the analysis of potential market value trends.
Customer: Federal Ministry
In the context of a research project, SCI Verkehr analyses the efficiency, i.e. Life Cycle Costs (LCC) of different freight wagons in operation. Therefore, a LCC model is designed which particularly assesses the use of innovative components in an economical manner. Not only investment and operating costs, but the entire freight wagon in operation is assessed. In doing so, the cost/benefit analysis is not restricted to wagon owners, and advantages for operators, shippers and the environment can also be taken into account and evaluated.
Customer: Midsized railway technology company
Our client had developed an innovative system for electronic fare management, which it wished to have tested in practice. In addition, the acceptance of the company was necessary as well as funding. SCI Verkehr took part in the project and assisted the client in quickly satisfying the necessary requirements for using the system in commercial operation.
Customer: Railway undertaking
On behalf of a railway undertaking, SCI Verkehr is analysing the effects of the introduction of Digital Automatic Coupling (DAK) on the performance of rail freight transport. As part of a meta-study, SCI Verkehr summarises the results of various studies on the DAK and its effects in line and shunting operations and evaluates them with regard to an increase in capacity after the successful migration of the DAK after 2030.
