On behalf of a client, SCI Verkehr prepared a strategy workshop that analyses current developments in the locomotive market and supported the client's investment decisions. Different locomotive segments were considered as well as a differentiation between new and maintenance business. This also included the analysis of existing production and workshop capacities.

On behalf of a supplier active in the rail industry, SCI Verkehr analyses fleet strategies of German regional and commuter rail transport authorities. SCI Verkehr assesses the general fleet strategy of the authorities as well as technical specifications in tenders for regional rail transport. The objective is to promote innovations in future tenders.

SCI Verkehr provided strategic advice to a leasing company on the expansion of its portfolio. For this purpose, various assets and markets were evaluated. In addition to analysing the strengths and weaknesses of potential locomotive types, supply and demand were assessed in various European markets. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr also spoke with potential customers of the leasing company.

On behalf of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr delivered data on the French freight wagon market. Focus was on fleet composition as well as age structure. In addition, SCI Verkehr categorised the wagon owners active in the market based on their potential for future M&As or sale and lease back deals.

SCI Verkehr analyses market prospects for various segments in rail transport up to the year 2030 for a Vendors Due Diligence (VDD). In addition to the rail freight market, the focus is on passenger transport, which is differentiated according to regional, publicly ordered transport and open-access transport in long-distance transport. In addition to the demand for vehicles, potentials for the leasing business are also determined.

On behalf of a refinancing bank, SCI Verkehr updated a valuation report for railcars. For this purpose, current fair value of a fleet operated in regional rail transport was calculated by means of the DRC method.

SCI Verkehr supported a private investor with the valuation of modern dual-mode locomotives in the German market. The valuation was carried out using the replacement costs method.
Customer: International credit institute
On behalf of a financing credit institution, SCI Verkehr is examining the asset value development of electric locomotives over their entire life-cycle. The investigation uses the ?Asset Value Tool? developed by SCI Verkehr and includes both an analysis of the technical vehicle value as well as statements about the possible re-use of the locomotives in the case of further utilisation of the vehicles. The impact of different maintenance levels on the value development of the vehicles was also taken into consideration.
Customer: Logistik Initiative Hamburg e.V.
SCI produces an annual evaluation of data on the general economic situation of companies in the logistics sector in Hamburg. The data is compared with the SCI/LOGISTIKBAROMETER and thus placed in a nationwide context. Members' assessments of the work of the commissioning initiative are also surveyed.

A German-Dutch border region wants to logistically reorganise. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr was commissioned to conduct a detailed regional economic analysis with a Dutch partner. The analysis is based on statistical data and a survey of business enterprises.

Together with two partners, SCI evaluated the funding guidelines of a German federal ministry. The impact of the funding was assessed using statistical and qualitative evaluation criteria, and examples of adjustments for the future were developed.

A leading provider of rail freight transport services is planning to reorganise its customer support according to market requirements. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to evaluate envisaged and partly already implemented measures and to support coordinating personnel planning in terms of participation .

SCI Verkehr supported a potential investor with the analysis of a rail freight operator active in the intermodal segment. SCI Verkehr developed an outside-in business plan based on public information as well as in-house expertise about this business. SCI Verkehr provided detailed assumptions and parameters for three business divisions: container transport (rail and road), intermodal terminal operations (internal and external) as well as fleet management (locomotive and freight wagons)
