Together with partners, SCI Verkehr is supporting a globally active logistics group in the strategic reorientation of its transports towards more rail transport. The activities are taking place in the context of implementing the group's CO2 targets. In the process, the relevant transport markets are analysed and, as a result, options are examined, e.g. for the development of own capacities, partnerships or acquisitions.

Compilation of a logistics report for the food industry in North Rhine-Westphalia. Analysis and weaknesses assessment of the logistics chains in the food industry. Compilation of measures for optimizing the supply chain ability of the sector and individual companies.

Under a study, SCI Verkehr analyses the market for control and signalling equipment in Poland. The study contains a comparison of the suppliers of components and systems, discusses product and price developments and trends and differences in the provisioning processes of the Polish railways PKP and the other railway infrastructure companies.

SCI Verkehr carried out a detailed corridor analysis in the European rail freight transport for a rail freight company. For this purpose, train numbers, market shares and capacities on selected lines were determined.

On behalf of an investor, SCI Verkehr valued a fleet of modern used tank, intermodal and bulk wagons. The valuation of the wagons according to DCF and DRC methodology took into account the wagon-specific supply and demand situation.

On behalf of an investor, SCI Verkehr evaluates a fleet of new electric locomotives using the cost-based RC method. The appraisal is completed by an asset assessment, a market analysis and a value progression taking into account maintenance expenses.
Customer: International freight wagon leasing company
In the context of preparing the purchase of a fleet of car-carrier wagons, SCI Verkehr conducts vehicle assessment by means of the cost-based DRC method (Depreciated Replacement Cost) and the DCF method (Discounted Cash Flow). In the process, SCI Verkehr particularly analyses current procurement costs and leasing rates of comparable vehicles. Wagons of the considered fleet are to be operated in Continental Europe.

A terminal for combined transport in a German domestic port was to be rehabilitated and extended. SCI Verkehr prepared the application for public funding. The need for the measure was justified, competition to other terminals and economic efficiency analysed. In addition, SCI Verkehr attended the following procedure of approval and allocation of public funding.
Customer: Three municipalities in Germany and the Netherlands
A German-Dutch border region wants to logistically reorganise. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr was commissioned to conduct a detailed regional economic analysis with a Dutch partner. The analysis is based on statistical data and a survey of business enterprises.

In autumn 2015, LogistikCluster NRW entered a new phase. The cluster's activities will focus even more intensively on the topics of growth, innovation and digitalisation. SCI Verkehr organises all technical and organisational activities for the LOG-IT Club e.V. in close cooperation with the Association of the Transport Industry and Logistics.

In the context of a research project, SCI Verkehr analyses the efficiency, i.e. Life Cycle Costs (LCC) of different freight wagons in operation. Therefore, a LCC model is designed which particularly assesses the use of innovative components in an economical manner. Not only investment and operating costs, but the entire freight wagon in operation is assessed. In doing so, the cost/benefit analysis is not restricted to wagon owners, and advantages for operators, shippers and the environment can also be taken into account and evaluated.

SCI Verkehr critically examined the business plan of a leasing company in the run-up to a possible due diligence. The focus was on the evaluation of the current portfolio and the management's assumptions regarding growth potential. For this purpose, a benchmark of current and expected future leasing rates and the occupancy rate was also carried out.
Customer: Medium-sized forwarding company
A medium-sized forwarding company is planning to extend its existing railways siding and to improve it by setting up a handling hall. In order to construct these facilities, the company will seek governmental subsidies from the sidings track support programme of the Federal Republic of Germany. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to take a leading part in supporting the company´s application.

A leading European rail freight company has to reorganize itself completely in terms of profitability, efficiency and reliability. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to support the restructuring process actively and to bring in expertise in railway operation, processes and strategy. Focus is also put on close involvement in terms of co-determination .

SCI Verkehr is supporting a leading European freight transport company in the reorganisation of its corporate strategy. In the process, all relevant internal and external factors for all forms of production in rail freight transport are examined and subjected to a strategic review. The aim is to redesign selected areas of the company in order to achieve greater economic efficiency and resilience.
