On behalf of a client, SCI Verkehr prepared a strategy workshop that analyses current developments in the locomotive market and supported the client's investment decisions. Different locomotive segments were considered as well as a differentiation between new and maintenance business. This also included the analysis of existing production and workshop capacities.

SCI Verkehr supported a private railway transport company in the strategic and operational calculation and preparation of a bid for transport services in Germany. The aim was to submit an attractive, innovative and cost-efficient offer for rail services to maximize the client´s opportunity of success in the competition for the transport service contract and to subsequently guarantee sustainable economic success and customer satisfaction. SCI Verkehr performed the conceptual and technical planning, calculation, the editorial preparation and operational and organisational support.

A leading company in the European rail freight market has executed an extensive project for strategic repositioning, reorganisation and process setup with the help of SCI Verkehr. SCI Verkehr provided support in the areas of project management as well as with specific projects. For this, market and competition expectations were reviewed and benchmarks for the positioning of production- and sales-related units were developed. SCI Verkehr prepared, monitored and evaluated the successful implementation.

SCI Verkehr assisted a globally active manufacturer of components in identifying targets for the realization of external growth. For this, a quick scan of the worldwide component markets in the railway technology sector was created. Subsequently, the possible targets were identified. Based on SCI Verkehr' s company data base, more than 1,000 manufacturers were picked according to an expert evaluation, assessed in depth based on specific criteria and selected within a deep-dive valuation.

Assessment of the prospective market chances in European and German rail vehicle construction. Assessment of the general conditions and development drivers in the transport markets. Analysis of the current market volumes as well as prospects for development up to the year 2011. Assessment of potentials in the rail vehicle maintenance business. Preparing recommendations for action regarding the further utilisation and development of an individual site for a world market leader for rail vehicles.

SCI Verkehr carried out an asset appraisal for a European freight wagon leasing company. The market value of the intermodal wagons was determined using the cost-based RC and the income-based DCF method in accordance with IVS 2022. The valuation is based on a comprehensive market analysis. Special focus was placed on the current challenges in intermodal transport.

On behalf of a financier, SCI Verkehr valued a portfolio of new multi-system locomotives for transalpine transit traffic using the cost-based RC evaluation methodology according to IVS 2020.

Idea and concept study on behalf of the Hamburg city development authority. The working group was composed of: Institute for Local and Regional Transportation Research e.V. (ISRT), Coast Planning Institute (PIK) and SCI Engineer Services GmbH (SCI).

In cooperation with project partners, SCI Verkehr revised an already existing waterway and port concept. We concretised and adjusted the transport targets and principles of the state government, created a new chapter entitled ?Transport and Logistics?, added the chapter ?Environmental/Climate Protection? and derived possible contracts or manageable political concepts for action for the state government from the possible options for action. The new concept was aligned with the port industry and federal government?s master plan for transport and logistics. The aim of the concept was to clarify the importance of inland water transportation and ports for Germany.

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Transport, SCI Verkehr investigated the applicability of innovative drives for rail vehicles that run on non-electrified lines. In addition to economic efficiency, changes relevant to the environment (e.g. emission reduction) were also evaluated.
