On behalf of a rail industry manufacturer's work council, SCI Verkehr evaluated the current situation and future market development. By way of a portfolio analysis, demand and competition structures in the diesel locomotive business were analysed. At the same time, short or medium term demand projects were identified and their probability of implementation and success was evaluated. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr verified its own data base information with additional expert interviews.

On behalf of a globally active rolling stock maintenance provider, SCI Verkehr analyses and assesses the market for maintenance services of all vehicle segments. Based on this, potentials for the provider are deduced. Assessment of potentials forms the basis for the future focus of the maintenance business.

On behalf of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr analysed the market development and the demand for new electric locomotives in continental Europe as a basis for an investment decision. The development of ETCS in Europe, infrastructural development and procurements by leasing companies were taken into account for this analysis.

On behalf of a global railway technology group, SCI Verkehr compiles the delivery figures and market volumes for railway technology products worldwide in dashboard format for its strategic planning. In addition to various rail vehicle segments, the infrastructure sector is also considered, i.e. components for track and electrification as well as signalling technology and passenger information systems. Volumes in the after-sales market are also analysed.

On behalf of a leading manufacturer of components and sub-systems for railway technology, SCI Verkehr compiled a fleet overview of multiple units in regional transport. The focus was on the analysis of light and heavy maintenance of the fleets and an overview of the most important providers of maintenance and repair.

On behalf of an investor, SCI Verkehr prepared an asset valuation of new steel transport wagons. SCI Verkehr valued the wagons using the income-based DCF and cost-based DRC methodology.

In the context of a railway transport company’s refinancing, SCI Verkehr determines the current market value of used diesel multiple units. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr particularly analyses the future secondary market for diesel-powered regional railcars based on its regional and commuter rail transport and rolling stock databases.

SCI Verkehr prepared a valuation update for a fleet of InnoWaggons for a German leasing company. The valuation was carried out using the income-based DCF and cost-based RC method according to IVS 2022. Special focus was placed on the value development curves and the residual values, under consideration of the customer\'s financing structure.

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Transport, SCI Verkehr investigated the applicability of innovative drives for rail vehicles that run on non-electrified lines. In addition to economic efficiency, changes relevant to the environment (e.g. emission reduction) were also evaluated.
Customer: Global player in the food industry
In autumn 2008, a client from the food industry carried out a wide-reaching operational excellence project at one of its sites. In this project, the production and logistics (warehousing and distribution) systems were examined and various changes resolved. One of the main changes to the logistics system was an optimisation of loading during the night. SCI Verkehr supported the implementation of the changes, also operationally, and held several meetings on location in order to ensure the sustainability of the process changes.

SCI Verkehr supported an international maintenance provider for rolling stock and components with regards to bid management for services in the external market. This included conceptual, economic and editorial assistance in the context of tender preparation as well as operational and organisational support in the bid process.
