Within the scope of a portfolio analysis, SCI Verkehr undertook a comprehensive market valuation, which identified the competition and market dynamic of various potential markets. The following partial results were provided in the process: Identification of main competitors in each potential market, valuation of strategic rationale as well as its medium-term development in each potential market, valuation of market position and intensity of competition as well as the development of each potential market in comparison to the development of the rail freight sector as a whole.

On behalf of a railway component manufacturer, SCI Verkehr analyses future potential for innovation for freight wagons in order to support the customer with regards to strategic positioning of the product portfolio.

SCI Verkehr prepared a portfolio assessment of the main fields of business for an internationally active rolling stock manufacturer. In doing so, we analysed the current situation and future developments in these fields of business, as well as the key megatrends that overlie and could determine the market development. Against this background, SCI Verkehr developed strategic building blocks for successful market positioning.
Customer: Vehicle manufacturer
On behalf of a locomotive manufacturer, the future demand for locomotives in Europe was analysed in terms of different power classes. In addition, discussions with customers and experts exposed the future requirements on locomotives in terms of technical fittings, financing, usage period, etc. The aim of the analysis was to align the manufacturer?s product portfolio, distribution activities and production structure for the future.

On behalf of an investor, SCI Verkehr prepared a short analysis of the steel market and the development of steel transport in the current economic situation.
Customer: Logistics initiative Hamburg
Since 2009, SCI Verkehr has been conducting a member survey on the economic development of the logistics sector in Hamburg for the logistics initiative Logistikinitiative Hamburg on an annual basis. Collected data were compared to the SCI/ logistics barometer and were situated into the national context. In 2019, the survey was conducted again and presented in the context of the initiatives general assembly.
Customer: Rail leasing company
On behalf of a rail leasing company, SCI Verkehr analysed the re-use possibilities of double-deck coaches in the German and EU regional rail transport. For this purpose, future railway contracts were evaluated regarding their accuracy of fit for the respective coaches and the prospects of success for a re-use are estimated.
Customer: International banking institute
For an international banking institute, SCI Verkehr analysed the development of new prices and the leasing and rental rates for locomotives and multiple units over a period of ten years. The information was required within the scope of an internal rating tool. For the analysis, SCI Verkehr uses the SCI railway technology database with more than 20,000 rolling stock datasets. As the market for rolling stock leasing is only in the early stages and data is not always available, SCI Verkehr supplemented the figures with qualitative estimates.
Customer: Leasing company
On behalf of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr evaluated the market environment for dual-mode locomotives. Both flexible application possibilities due to the dual-mode drive (electric or diesel engine) and the respective application advantages of four and six-axle locomotives were examined in more detail. Both a cost-based and an income-based valuation following international standards completed the analysis.
Customer: LOG-IT Club e.V.
Since the foundation of the LOG-IT Club e.V. in November 2002, SCI Verkehr has conducted the business of the association. This includes the support of the association committees, account management, budgetary control and acceptance of new members.
Customer: State of North Rhine-Westphalia
The Rhein-Ruhr-Express (RRX) is the most important rail project in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and, starting 2017, will even gain in significance in public perception due to beginning infrastructure expansion as well as delivery of new electric multiple units. Therefore, on behalf of the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Urban Development, and Transport of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and CP Compartners, SCI Verkehr accompanied regional conferences on the topic RRX. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr examined transport-related, economic, as well as environmental benefits for the areas Rhineland, Rhine-Ruhr and Westphalia and discussed the results among experts.

First, the cost reduction needs of selected rail infrastructure maintenance target markets were closely examined. In addition, recommendations were made for the market entry activities of an infrastructure maintenance service company were derived.

On behalf of a supplier of sub-systems, SCI Verkehr has benchmarked different production methods and construction materials for a component. Especially the comparison between railway technology and other mobile applications is supposed to illustrate adaptation possibilities of solutions from other areas.

Analysis of tender invitation, specification of performance profile and offer support for the public tender for several routes of the rail-bound passenger short-distance transport of the State Mecklenburg-Vorpommern within the scope of the regionalisation of the RPST; Start-up of operation of the Mecklenburg railways based on the 1st offer scheduled for June 2001.

A global player in the beverage industry is planning to restructure its IT and support departments and subsequently establish them in Europe. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to review and further develop this strategy, and to accompany the negotiations with the employee representatives.
