In detail, the current demand for rolling stock of individual countries is combined with long-term indicators, such as transport performance. From this, current and future demand for rail wheels of various types and in various world regions can be derived.

As basis for a leading leasing company’s strategic planning, SCI Verkehr prepares a short overview of the current leasing market for locomotives in Europe. The project includes a portfolio analysis as well as an examination of the most important players in the leasing market for locomotives. Furthermore, SCI Verkehr evaluates a locomotive portfolio according to the DCF as well as the DRC method, i.e. income-based as well as based on replacement costs for the fleet.

On behalf of a rolling stock manufacturer, SCI Verkehr analyses market and competitive situation of shunting locomotives. Special focus is put on considering different performance classes and scopes of equipment as well as related price levels.

SCI Verkehr will perform an asset valuation of a fleet of LRV vehicles from Western Europe. The valuation will be prepared accoding to IVS 2020. SCI Verkehr has also analysed secondary markets for LRV in Europe.

On behalf of an international rolling stock manufacturer, SCI Verkehr analysed the asset value development of modern multisystem railcars. The report compiled served as the basis for vehicle financing and included key statements concerning technical characteristics, service and maintenance and about the possible reuse of the EMUs.

On behalf of a vehicle leasing company, SCI Verkehr analysed the value development of modern EMUs over their lifecycle. The valuation was carried out with the aid of the asset value tool developed by SCI Verkehr, taking into account the reuse potential of the vehicles during and at the end of a commuter transport franchise in Germany and Europe.

SCI Verkehr supported a private railway company in the strategic and operational preparation of a bid for transport services in Germany. The aim is to submit an attractive, innovative and cost-efficient offer for rail services, on the basis of which the client will be successful in the competition for the transport service contract. SCI Verkehr performed the conceptual and technical planning, the editorial preparation and operational and organisational support.

SCI Verkehr supported a research institution of the EBA in considering the further development of single wagonload transport in Germany with a special focus on innovation. Two other management consultancies supported the project on a subcontract basis.

Together with CP Compartner, SCI Verkehr is looking after Initiative Bahn NRW. This cluster initiative is responsible for supporting the diverse railway and transport sector in North Rhine-Westphalia. SCI Verkehr's activities in this respect focus on contextual support for the initiative and dealing with central specialist issues.

On behalf of a railway undertaking, SCI Verkehr is analysing the effects of the introduction of Digital Automatic Coupling (DAK) on the performance of rail freight transport. As part of a meta-study, SCI Verkehr summarises the results of various studies on the DAK and its effects in line and shunting operations and evaluates them with regard to an increase in capacity after the successful migration of the DAK after 2030.

SCI Verkehr supports an automobile manufacturer in preparing a rail transport concept for two plants in different European countries. The final results include a business plan, route analysis, rolling stock recommendations, selection of rail freight operators, feasibility of creating an own operator, and an overview of loading and unloading processes.
