SCI Verkehr supported a leading European rail freight transport company in central restructuring processes. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr developed own and analysed existing market expectations. At the same time, benchmarks regarding the entrepreneurial organisation of production and sales units were been developed. SCI Verkehr prepared, accompanied and evaluated the processes for implementing the restructuring.

On behalf of a company outside the sector, SCI Verkehr GmbH has organised a one-day workshop to make rail vehicle manufacturing processes transparent and assist the client to become familiar with the sector.

SCI Verkehr analyses the maintenance workshops in Germany regarding their abilities and facilities. Light and heavy maintenance as well as refurbishments will be included. Te project focuses on long-distance, regional and rail freight maintenance facilities. The result is going to be a full overview of German mainline rail maintenance sites.

SCI Verkehr analysed the worldwide markets for railway vehicles with a strong focus on production sites of the vehicles and developed a forecast for the next years. Additionally, SCI Verkehr enhanced the analysis with regard to wheelsets in Europe.

For the annual assessment of the rolling stock fleet on behalf of a bank group, SCI Verkehr analysed the market development in the rail freight sector in Europe, North America and Russia. Based on this, the impact on asset values was determined.
Customer: International credit institute
In order to broaden its service portfolio, SCI Verkehr analysed the competitive situation and market prospects in the European market for operate leasing of locomotives on behalf of an international leasing company. To determine the market demand SCI Verkehr examined national and international transport flows in rail freight transport, differentiated by important types of freight suited for transportation by railway. On this basis, SCI Verkehr derived the current and future demand for locomotives differentiated by type of traction, power systems and national packages. Taking into consideration the competitive environment, SCI Verkehr determined an optimum fleet structure for a leasing pool.
Customer:
On behalf of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr evaluated a fleet of freight cars, consisting of open wagons, intermodal wagons, chemical and mineral oil tank cars and car transport cars. In addition to the current vehicle values, SCI Verkehr also analysed the respective underlying industries and assessed the impact of the corona pandemic on the current market value.

SCI Verkehr checked the plausibility of relevant assumptions of the business plan of a leasing company for a leading European infrastructure investor. Based on this, SCI Verkehr prepared an independent assessment of relevant parameters as well as a fleet valuation of the freight wagons contained in the portfolio.

On behalf of a transport industry association, SCI Verkehr compiled an overview over all German regional rail transport tenders from 2016 to 2025 which is regularly updated. A particular focus was placed on wage and social standards. The SCI DATABASE, in which all regional rail transport tenders are compiled, was used as a basis for this analysis.

Based on the work of the state's initiative in logistics during the first 3 years, the task now is to press ahead with the work started and provide new impulses in support of the logistics sector in North Rhine Westphalia
Customer: Public transport authority
SCI Verkehr was commissioned by a public transport authority to prepare a feasibility study on the planned use of alternatively powered rail vehicles. The focus of the analyses was on the economic feasibility of hydrogen and battery-powered trains in terms of operation, energy and infrastructure. A life cycle cost (LCC) model from SCI was applied. The aim of the study was to determine the economically and operationally optimal drive technologies against the background of the existing and future infrastructure of various networks, for example with regard to charging and refuelling processes.

On behalf of Allianz pro Schiene, SCI Verkehr is analysing the importance of ecological-related decision-making criteria within the German competition market for short-distance passenger rail transport. For this, environmental criteria are going to be analysed with regard to completed awards of short-distance passenger rail transport services and their future importance.
