In a continuation of the study ?The World Market for Railway Engineering? of November 2003, SCI Verkehr compiled an in-depth analysis of the Asian market on behalf of Vossloh AG. This included an examination of market volumes as well as the structure and development of the Asian railway industry.

As part of an internationalisation strategy, SCI Verkehr GmbH first of all ascertained informative key data regarding track system infrastructure fittings of metro and light rail systems in Europe and the Mediterranean countries. It then performed a survey of network operators regarding their renewal and maintenance strategies and edited the results for the purpose of assessing the client?s business options.

For the purpose of refinancing the rolling stock portfolio of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr assesses the future value development of the rolling stock against the background of the transport market development, the resulting possibilities for vehicle reutilisation and the leasing rates achievable in the market. As these are fungible standard vehicles, a discount cash flow (DCF) approach is applied, using a critical appraisal of the expected market conditions.
Customer: Project financier
On behalf of a financier, SCI Verkehr determines the current and future market value of dual mode locomotives. SCI Verkehr differentiates between different utilisation scenarios, which consider the state of maintenance and the expected market situation.
Customer: Leasing company
On behalf of a leasing fund, SCI Verkehr determined the current market value of diesel main-line locomotives in North America. The appraisal is carried out based on a DRC approach and compared to the original residual values.
Customer: LOG-IT Club e.V.
In April 2018, the competence-net Logistics.NRW was launched as innovation and partner network of the state of NRW. Activities of the network are directed at the subject areas of innovation and digitalisation in particular. On behalf of LOG-IT Club eV., SCI Verkehr, in close cooperation with the alliance of transport economics and logistics, organises all specialist and organisational activities related to continuous networking.
Customer: Society for the promotion of economic development
The aim of the consulting activities is the development of a multi-industry target client analysis for a planned logistics park in North Rhine-Westphalia. The preparation of location marketing activities is also part of the goal. The main focus of our services is to develop market knowledge about the target industries. Relevant actors and potential companies within the identified industries will be ascertained. These will be primary contact persons for location marketing.

The German railway network can be used by all certified railway companies. Many companies within and outside of Germany frequently take advantage of this right. Railway safety may not represent the same level of priority for every user. The study investigates whether or not current guidelines are sufficient. More specifically, it looks at the degree to which set rules can ensure a high safety standard in light of the conditions in a liberalized market. The study should show that a high safety and quality standard can help prevent competitive disadvantages for EVU, thus helping preserve and sustain the system railway?s position in the transport market.

On the basis of its own preliminary studies, SCI Verkehr, together with partners, is supporting a globally active logistics group in the development of its own rail strategy. The activities take place within the framework of the implementation of the group's CO2 targets. Internal quantities are analysed and concrete strategic approaches to shifting are developed.

Customer: Public Transport Authority
SCI Verkehr evaluated the economic feasibility of the selected bids for a public transport authority in the context of a procurement of new urban transport vehicles. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr evaluated the bid documents and carried out a price benchmark to determine the usual market prices of metro vehicles.
Customer: Global player in the food industry
Following an analysis carried out by SCI Verkehr of existing structures and processes in one of the client?s workshops, the first changes to the structures at the site have been initiated. The next task for SCI Verkehr was to operationally implement the processes in some areas, change them in a sustainable manner and coach a newly hired workshop manager in his role.

A leading European rail freight company has to reorganize itself completely in terms of profitability, efficiency and reliability. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to support the restructuring process actively and to bring in expertise in railway operation, processes and strategy. Focus is also put on close involvement in terms of co-determination .

SCI Verkehr supported the railway company in the strategic and operational preparation of a bid for transport services in northern Germany. The objective was to submit an attractive, innovative and reasonably priced bid for rail services. SCI Verkehr performed the conceptual and technical planning, the editorial preparation and operational and organisational support.
