Customer: Transport authority local rail transport
A transport authority required a risk analysis concerning various tender models in local rail transport for its partners. SCI Verkehr compared various possibilities regarding their implementation probability and possibilities to reduce the risk for the transport authority.

For an international freight car manufacturer, SCI Verkehr analysed the attractiveness of the European freight car market with regard to an investment in a freight car plant. The study includes market, competition and customer analysis as well as the evaluation of the political framework conditions for foreign direct investment in selected countries.

SCI Verkehr supported a financier of rail vehicles in the evaluation of a modern track maintenance machine. SCI Verkehr has been available as an expert in the context of interviews.
Customer: Railway technology group
On behalf of a global railway technology group, SCI Verkehr compiles the delivery figures and market volumes for railway technology products worldwide in dashboard format for its strategic planning. In addition to various rail vehicle segments, the infrastructure sector is also considered, i.e. components for track and electrification as well as signalling technology and passenger information systems. Volumes in the after-sales market are also analysed.
Customer: Freight wagon investor
On behalf of an investor, SCI Verkehr appraised a freight wagon portfolio based on both the DCF approach as well as the DRC approach, i.e. based on revenue as well as replacement costs of the fleet.
Customer: International credit institute
On behalf of an international credit institute, SCI Verkehr investigated the assumptions of an existing valuation system for rolling stock against the background of the regular "Basel 2" valuation. SCI Verkehr also assessed the potential effects of the financial crisis on the current and future asset values of the rolling stock.
Customer: Railway Operator
On behalf of an operator, SCI Verkehr evaluates a fleet of used mainline locomotives with diesel drive. The value of the locomotives is determined with the help of a net asset value method, whereby a distinction is made between three variants and different country approvals are also included in the valuation.
Customer: Ministerium für Wohnungswesen, Städtebau und Verkehr des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt (Ministry for Housing, Town Planning, and Traffic of State Sachsen-Anhalt)
Because of the traffic problems on the road and the expected growth of traffic much hope, particularly in the field of freight traffic, is directed towards to the railways as a carrier for solving the transportation problems of the future. This was the background for the State of Sachsen-Anhalt to bring together, within the scope of a technical conference, decision makers in politics and science, consignors, and the transportation business, in order to develop initiatives for improving the efficiency and competitive capability of the railway freight traffic. SCI Verkehr has developed and implemented an agenda for this conference. It became possible to win high-ranking speakers from the economy, science, and politics. With more than 300 delegates the event was well received. Because of this success the State of Sachsen-Anhalt has decided to make the Railway Freight Traffic Conference a regular event. The Conference 2002 is scheduled for 5 and 6 September 2002.

A publicly owned company that owns the railway and terminal infrastructure was given the political mandate to prepare the exit of the public owners from this area. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to provide comprehensive support to the management in an initial market survey.
Customer: NEW.S
Since 2004, the social partner project Nordrhein-Westfälische ErnährungsWirtschaft e.V. (NEW.S) has been leading a continuous discussion of important logistics issues in the sector. For this reason SCI Verkehr GmbH has developed a series of workshops called ?optimisation in the logistics sector? with company representatives. For two further workshops in the spring of 2007, SCI Verkehr is taking over the entire content preparation and management. This includes concept development, detailed planning, acquiring speakers and the presentation of the workshops.
Customer: Allianz pro Schiene
Working for Allianz pro Schiene and in co-operation with the IFEU institute in Heidelberg, SCI Verkehr is preparing the evaluation parameters for an "environmental comparison - rail transport" and their transformation to a transparent and (in view of different framework conditions) just measuring system. It is intended for use as tool for assessing railway transport companies and their rail vehicles in terms of environmental compatibility and under a public competition also as a marketing tool in favor of rail-bound transport.

Comparison of prices, services and throughput times of selected providers of freight wagon maintenance in Germany.
Customer: Transport authority
SCI Verkehr evaluated the economic feasibility of the selected bids for a transport authority in the context of a procurement of new urban transport vehicles. To this purpose, SCI Verkehr evaluated the tender documents and carried out a price benchmark to determine standard market prices for e-buses and their charging infrastructure.
Customer: Midsized brewery
A midsized brewery planned to make comprehensive changes to its logistical structures based upon the expertise of an external advisor. This mainly concerned the warehouses at the production site. SCI Verkehr carried out a cross-check of the assumptions and calculations. Furthermore, SCI Verkehr accompanied the dialogue process between the works council and management on the basis of a technical expertise.

A leading European rail freight company has to reorganize itself completely in terms of profitability, efficiency and reliability. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to support the restructuring process actively and to bring in expertise in railway operation, processes and strategy. Focus is also put on close involvement in terms of co-determination .
