On behalf of a company outside the sector, SCI Verkehr GmbH has organised a one-day workshop to make rail vehicle manufacturing processes transparent and assist the client to become familiar with the sector.

On behalf of a subsystem supplier, SCI Verkehr analysed the market for rail vehicles and compiled an outlook on upcoming projects or tenders as well as market volumes in different regions of the world.
Customer: Leasing company
On behalf of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr assessed the continental European rail freight market. The focus was on the analysis of the freight segments and the development of transport volumes on European rail freight corridors under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Customer: International bank
On behalf of an international bank, SCI Verkehr has compiled a market study about the German local transport market. The objective of the project was the assessment of the risk regarding the financing of local and regional multiple units in the event of a change of concession or an unforeseeable failure. For this purpose, the future development of tenders and current redeployments of multiple units have been analysed. This information influenced the market evaluation of the bank in terms of strategy and risk.

On behalf of an international credit institute, SCI Verkehr assessed the value developments of DMUs and EMUs for operation in the German commuter rail market. SCI Verkehr analysed both technical aspects, such as maintenance condition and refurbishment costs, as well as the opportunities for reuse in the European market, in particular once the franchise expires.

On behalf of a railway company, SCI Verkehr assesses the current market value of used diesel railcars. In the context of determining value, SCI Verkehr puts special focus on analysing the future secondary market for diesel powered regional railcars.
Customer: International financing company
On behalf of a globally active financing company for rolling stock, SCI Verkehr analysed the asset value development of modern DMUs for cross-border operation in Germany and the Netherlands. The report compiled served as the basis for risk assessment for vehicle financing and also took into consideration the agreed return terms for the vehicles.
Customer: German Federal Ministry
Together with two partners, SCI evaluated the funding guidelines of a German federal ministry. The impact of the funding was assessed using statistical and qualitative evaluation criteria, and examples of adjustments for the future were developed.
Customer: An infrastructure manager
SCI Verkehr analysed the future potential of hydrogen shunters and the corresponding demand for an hydrogen refuelling station for an infrastructure manager. This included a survey of railway undertakings present on the network, the calculation of the future demand for hydrogen and a SWOT analysis of different operating models for a hydrogen refuelling station.

SCI Verkehr assists the works council of a large food / logistics company in the assessment and analysis of structural measures by the company and supports the development of alternative (logistics) concepts.
Customer: Transport authority
SCI Verkehr evaluated the economic feasibility of the selected bids for a transport authority in the context of a procurement of new light rail vehicles (LRV). To this end, SCI Verkehr evaluated the tender documents and carried out a price benchmark to determine market prices for LRV.
Customer: Financial investor
On behalf of an investor, SCI Verkehr is analysing the market potential for (cross-border) intercity connections in Europe. In addition to evaluating routes with regard to a possible shift of short-haul flights to rail, SCI Verkehr also compares possible vehicle concepts with regard to their investment costs and performance parameters.

In the context of European production location integration into the worldwide logistics concept, storage and transport processes are adapted; benchmarking of service providers.
Customer: Global player in the food industry
In autumn 2008, a client from the food industry carried out a wide-reaching operational excellence project at one of its sites. In this project, the production and logistics (warehousing and distribution) systems were examined and various changes resolved. One of the main changes to the logistics system was an optimisation of loading during the night. SCI Verkehr supported the implementation of the changes, also operationally, and held several meetings on location in order to ensure the sustainability of the process changes.
Customer: Medium-sized forwarding company
A medium-sized forwarding company is planning to extend its existing railways siding and to improve it by setting up a handling hall. In order to construct these facilities, the company will seek governmental subsidies from the sidings track support programme of the Federal Republic of Germany. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to take a leading part in supporting the company´s application.
