SCI Verkehr supported a private equity company in its acquisition efforts within the railway sector. SCI Verkehr supported an international company for rolling stock maintenance with regards to bid-management of a tender for regional passenger rail transport. Customer: Logistics initiative Hamburg

Since 2009, SCI Verkehr has been conducting a member survey on the economic development of the logistics sector in Hamburg for the logistics initiative Logistikinitiative Hamburg on an annual basis. Collected data were compared to the SCI/ logisctics barometer and were situated into the national context. In 2020, the survey was conducted again and presented in the context of the initiatives general assembly.

On behalf of an internationally active logistics company, SCI Verkehr surveyed various distribution locations with a view to the strategic repositioning of the company in Germany.

Fair value determination of European electric and diesel locomotives

Customer: Rail funds

On behalf of a railway fund, SCI Verkehr determined the current market value for various electric and diesel locomotives, based on a DCF method. This DCF valuation focused on the determination of the supply and demand situations of the respective assets.

Evaluation of used electric mainline locomotives for France

Customer: Railway undertaking

On behalf of an operator, SCI Verkehr evaluated a fleet of used mainline locomotives with electric traction for France. The value of the locomotives was determined using the cost-based DRC methodology.

Customer: LOG-IT Club e.V.

In April 2018, the Competence Network Logistics.NRW was launched as an innovation and partner network of the state of NRW. The network's activities are strongly focused on the topics of innovation and digitalisation. SCI Verkehr organises all technical and organisational activities for the LOG-IT Club e.V. in close cooperation with the German Association of Transport and Logistics.

LOG-IT Club e.V. is a platform of companies for companies in the logistics, IT/software, trade and industry sectors which are active in IT-supported logistics. SCI Verkehr GmbH assumed management of the association when it was founded in October 2002. Since then, it has been organising the network of member companies, licensing with the management board. This predominantly includes a supporting network with the aid of information and specialist events.

SCI Verkehr supports a leading railway operator in the conceptual reorganisation of essential parts of rail freight transport. It is aimed at achieving higher efficiency in this segment by reorganising responsibilities and processes in production and sales.

In the context of restructuring, a global enterprise in the food industry intends to close a logistics site and several production sites in Germany as well as to reorganise further core departments. SCI Verkehr surveys the plans and supports the process of negotiating a reconciliation of interests. Also, alternative scenarios are developed and moderated in this context.

Commercial due diligence of an European Rail Freight Operator

SCI Verkehr supported a potential investor with the analysis of a rail freight operator active in the intermodal segment. SCI Verkehr developed an outside-in business plan based on public information as well as in-house expertise about this business. SCI Verkehr provided detailed assumptions and parameters for three business divisions: container transport (rail and road), intermodal terminal operations (internal and external) as well as fleet management (locomotive and freight wagons)

Restructuring of workshop flows

Customer: Global player in the food industry

When centralising three workshops into one new site, our client had not implemented an active change management strategy. The processes and areas of work taken over from the old locations led to a significant drop in output at the new site. First of all, SCI Verkehr analysed and documented the existing workflows in a task force including management and the works council. At the same time, the team from SCI Verkehr identified and initiated necessary changes and oversaw the implementation on site. The aim of the project was to introduce staff to the new conditions in order to establish the adapted working areas and processes for the long term.
