For an investor, SCI Verkehr analysed a freight wagon fleet as part of a refinancing to derive the potential for green financing opportunities. The wagons were segmented according to UIC type and potentially transported goods. Based on this, the wagons were classified taking into account the relevance of fossil goods.

In the context of realigning its own structure, a global company in the food industry intends to shut down logistics, productions and repair shop sites in Germany and to reorganise further core departments. SCI Verkehr examines planning and accompanies the process of negotiation. Also, alternative scenarios are compiled and moderated in this context.

A leading German railway company is seeking to optimize its operative IT infrastructure. SCI Verkehr assumed the role of project manager in an already initiated internal project, analysed the relevant process levels and developed an optimization proposal.

SCI Verkehr compiled an overview of the worldwide market volume and the market development of light rail, tram and metro vehicles up to 2017 for a strategic market analysis.

Commissioned by a locomotive manufacturer, potential purchasers were identified and listed for the acquisition of shunting locomotives in German-speaking countries. The compilation of potential purchasers includes their structural characteristics (number of employees, turnover) and the contact person for distribution, as well as an analysis of the current locomotive fleet (size of fleet, engine-power class used, type of drive systems used, age structure of the fleet).

On behalf of a leasing company, SCI Verkehr updated a valuation from previous years with regard to current market developments and required traction to re-evaluate the possibilities for reuse of the assets.

In the course of refinancing a European locomotive portfolio SCI Verkehr prepares a portfolio assessment by means of the cost-based DRC assessment method. Assets, input parameters and results as well as a detailed market analysis are documented in an assessment report.

In the context of purchasing four-axle diesel universal locomotives and six-axle dual mode mainline locomotives in Continental Europe, SCI Verkehr assesses the current market value of these vehicles. Evaluation is conducted by means of the income-based DCF method and includes a short documentation of methods, input parameters, market description and valuation results.

The North Rhine Westphalia export campaign for the Central and Eastern European countries is supporting the NRW companies engaged in the PPP Structure in entering the markets in Central and Eastern Europe with focus on Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania. By means of specific market information and contact networking, organisation of political support, assistance with project acquisition and search for cooperation partners in the target countries, consulting and assistance in conjunction with financing and aid concepts, in particular through European programs, assistance at location by means of own coordination offices in the countries, the market entry in the target countries of the participating NRW companies is to be made easier; as a contribution to improving the competitive edge of the NRW region in conjunction with the expansion of the EU towards the east. System definition and architecture of an Intelligent Freight Train, including technical feasibility and economical analysis, based on the experiences of the European railways, explicitely DB AG (Germany), SNCF (France) and FS (Italy) and on performance parameters, evaluation criteria and functional specifications to be develloped in the project (partly based on related earlier EC research projects. A medium-sized forwarding company is planning to extend its existing railways siding and to improve it by setting up a handling hall. In order to construct these facilities, the company will seek governmental subsidies from the sidings track support programme of the Federal Republic of Germany. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to take a leading part in supporting the company´s application.
Customer: Railway undertaking
On behalf of a railway undertaking, SCI Verkehr is analysing the effects of the introduction of Digital Automatic Coupling (DAK) on the performance of rail freight transport. As part of a meta-study, SCI Verkehr summarises the results of various studies on the DAK and its effects in line and shunting operations and evaluates them with regard to an increase in capacity after the successful migration of the DAK after 2030.

On behalf of a supplier of sub-systems, SCI Verkehr has benchmarked different production methods and construction materials for a component. Especially the comparison between railway technology and other mobile applications is supposed to illustrate adaptation possibilities of solutions from other areas.

The European liberalisation of railway traffic allows the utilisation of the infrastructure by private railway transportation enterprises also across national borders. However, as opposed to the state railways, the regional railways cannot make use of the simplified common shipping procedure but are subject to the regulating procedures of the common / community shipping procedure. With this report a recommendation was developed for procedural management under the existing conditions.
