Customer: Global player in the food industry
The works committee and logistics management of a global player in the food industry intended to initiate an open dialogue about the future optimisation of logistical processes with external support. By conducting talks with both sides, SCI Verkehr prepared the dialogue, hosted the meetings of a joint working group and provided specialist input with the aim of developing a common perception of the logistical future of the company.

On behalf of a leading investment company, SCI Verkehr supported a due diligence process. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr updated a previously compiled market study of freight wagon leasing in Europe. In order to provide specialist support, additional questions specific to market and competition were analysed which also included evaluating the proposed business plan.

On behalf of a private equity company, SCI Verkehr determined the fair market value of locomotives and freight wagons in the context of a commercial due diligence. SCI Verkehr analysed various re-use scenarios.

On behalf of a service provider, SCI Verkehr compiled fleet data for multiple units in Europe. Based on the SCI DATABASE, the customer was thus provided with a detailed database with regard to vehicle type, manufacturer and year of manufacture, which is suitable for the strategic planning of the service business.

For an international manufacturer of process materials, SCI Verkehr analysed the production of renowned rolling stock manufacturers in 2007. The study differentiated between regional markets and the vehicle segments locomotives, high-speed trains, multiple units, metro vehicles, light rail vehicles, passenger coaches and freight wagons. The industrial company is provided with the resulting concrete statements regarding sales figures grouped by world market region and vehicle segment. The SCI database and Multi Client Studies were used in particular in compiling this study.
Customer: Locomotive manufacturer
On behalf of an international locomotive manufacturer, SCI Verkehr assessed the global market for diesel-electric locomotives. We analysed the market shares of the individual manufacturers by country and year. In this analysis SCI Verkehr focused particularly on presenting the market shares over the last 20 years.
Customer: Investor
On behalf of an investor, SCI Verkehr valued a fleet of modern used tank, intermodal and bulk wagons. The valuation of the wagons according to DCF and DRC methodology took into account the wagon-specific supply and demand situation.
Customer: Transport company
SCI Transport updated a Commercial Due Diligence report from January 2022 due to macroeconomic changes in Europe. New assumptions for a new business plan are being reviewed.
Customer: Leasing company rolling stock
On behalf of a leading rail vehicle lessor, SCI Verkehr values heavy electric single and multi-system locomotives by analysing the value stability of the assets as well as supply and demand in the relevant country markets. The valuation is carried out using the income-based DCF methodology.

SCI Verkehr supported a leading European rail freight transport company in central restructuring processes. For this purpose, SCI Verkehr developed own and analysed existing market expectations. At the same time, benchmarks regarding the entrepreneurial organisation of production and sales units were been developed. SCI Verkehr prepared, accompanied and evaluated the processes for implementing the restructuring.

SCI Verkehr carried out an investment and profitability calculation for a service provider operating in the rail sector. This related to an investment in track and hall infrastructure as well as railroad engineering equipment. The profitability analysis was carried out for the investment and operation over 30 years.

Checking the plausibility of a plan to reduce capacity and close sites for heavy maintenance. Preparing recommendations for the next steps with the objective of maintaining as many competitive jobs in the maintenance plants as possible.

SCI Verkehr supports an automobile manufacturer in preparing a rail transport concept for two plants in different European countries. The final results include a business plan, route analysis, rolling stock recommendations, selection of rail freight operators, feasibility of creating an own operator, and an overview of loading and unloading processes.

SCI Verkehr supported the railway company in the strategic and operational preparation of a bid for transport services in northern Germany. The objective was to submit an attractive, innovative and reasonably priced bid for rail services. SCI Verkehr performed the conceptual and technical planning, the editorial preparation and operational and organisational support.

SCI Verkehr supported the transport company in the conceptual and practical preparation of two commuter rail bids in eastern Germany. The services ranged from the development and assessment of a vehicle concept to conceptual, technical and editorial support to operational and organisational support.
Customer: Luxury foods manufacturer
A leading company in the luxury foods industry is planning to reorganise its distribution process, which it has performed itself with its own sites and vehicles up to now. The company now intends to contract these services to a logistics service provider (outsourcing). SCI Verkehr is checking the concept put together by the customer internally for plausibility and is giving useful advice for the further negotiations with the service provider.
