SCI Verkehr supported a leasing company in a refinancing process and prepared a comprehensive report with a market and competition analysis for this purpose. A special focus was placed on the analysis of the marketability of the assets, taking into account new technologies and environmental guidelines.

SCI Verkehr supports a financial investor by preparing a CDD in the domain of freight wagon leasing. In addition to the CDD report, customer questions on previous reports are responded to in the context of a Q&A process.
Customer: Manufacturer of rail vehicles
Within a commercial due diligence, SCI Verkehr analysed the market perspectives of the target in the light rail segment. In addition to identifying and appraising future projects in the target market, an interview-based analysis of customer satisfaction was carried out.
Customer: Railway industry supplier
SCI Verkehr investigated the market acceptance and market potential of a possible product innovation for two railway supply companies, which were planning a joint investment in developing high-quality components. As well as the additional potential achievable from the production innovation, the analysis took into consideration the risk of sunk costs as a result of uncertainty about the further market development and market success of the product.

On behalf of a service provider, SCI Verkehr compiled fleet data for multiple units in Europe. Based on the SCI DATABASE, the customer was thus provided with a detailed database with regard to vehicle type, manufacturer and year of manufacture, which is suitable for the strategic planning of the service business.

On behalf of a European freight wagon manufacturer, SCI Verkehr carried out research and a brief analysis of components in the North American market.
Customer: Investment bank
SCI Verkehr was commissioned by an investor to appraise various fleets of Electric Multiple units (EMUs) and Light Rail vehicles (LRVs) using the replacement cost method according to IVS 2020. A particular focus was on the analysis of redeployment of the fleets.
Customer: Leasing company
A leasing company examines equipping multisystem locomotives with ETCS. SCI Verkehr prepares a basis for decision-making by means of valuating earnings, costs and risks as well as an independent assessment of the estimated costs for rebuilding.
Customer: Financing bank
On behalf of a financing bank, SCI Verkehr determined the fair value for a fleet of electric multiple units (EMU). The valuation was made using the Depreciated Replacement Cost (DRC) method. One focus of the analysis was on long-term possibilities for the redeployment of the multiple units. In particular, the European open access market was analysed.
Customer: German Federal Ministry
Together with two partners, SCI evaluated the funding guidelines of a German federal ministry. The impact of the funding was assessed using statistical and qualitative evaluation criteria, and examples of adjustments for the future were developed.
Customer: Projekt Ruhr GmbH
Within the scope of marketing fields of expertise for a leading German business region, the aim is to link together various fields of expertise (logistics and IT) in order to develop a settlement strategy. SCI Verkehr is adding to and amending an existing company database regarding logistics/IT and carrying out a target customer analysis in the field of logistics/IT companies. The result is a marketing strategy for the combined segment logistics/IT with concrete advice for proactively attracting possible investors.
Customer: Ministry of Economics and Labour of the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia
Main task in the fifth year of the initiative was the improvement, primarily of the corporate services (such as participation in fairs and exhibitions, logistics advancement program LogMit, website, logistics infoservice, etc.). In addition to strengthening the logistics industry in North Rhine Westphalia, another main target is to improve the international marketing of the logistics industry of the state. Target markets include, in addition to the U.S.A., primarily Asia (Japan, China) and Russia.

SCI Verkehr developed a cash flow model for a financial institution for a European leasing company. The model calculates the companys expected profits until 2030 under market-realistic assumptions. It also calculates ratios such as loan-to-value and debt service coverage ratio based on a valuation of the fleet.

SCI Verkehr carried out an investment and profitability calculation for a service provider operating in the rail sector. This related to an investment in track and hall infrastructure as well as railroad engineering equipment. The profitability analysis was carried out for the investment and operation over 30 years.

The commissioning railway company active in European rail freight transport is in an economically strained situation with clearly decreasing market shares, declining transport services and unsatisfactory performance. Defined objectives of the company are to increase production stability, reorganise operations of sales and production as well as increasing productivity and economic improvement of selected areas of operation. SCI Verkehr was commissioned to monitor and accompany the process as expert consultant.

Identification of cost reduction potentials, possible ways ans implications of their realisation. Support to the client in the design of the transport service contract.
