The World Market for Fare Management, Passenger Information and Safety Solutions: 5.5 billion euros up to 2010 Europe Remains the Most Important Market - Strongest Growth in Asia(01.06.2006) Fare management is the largest submarket with a volume of nearly 3.25 billion euros, followed by passenger information systems with a good 1.9 billion euros. Passenger safety systems are further behind with 360 million euros but are a particularly dynamic market. In one of its latest market studies, SCI Verkehr has analysed the present stocks in the fields of fare management, passenger information and passenger safety. The study also includes technical developments, developments in transport as well as investment trends. Based on these, the study analyses investment volumes for the next five years. In Western Europe alone SCI Verkehr expects a market volume of almost 2 billion euros for the forecast period 2006 to 2010. A further 315 million euros can be expected in Eastern Europe. More than half of this amount is accounted for by fare management systems, and another third is expected in the passenger information sector. In Eastern Europe investments in passenger information systems make up the largest share. Strong growth can be expected here in the coming years. Asia is currently experiencing the strongest growth. The total volume for the years 2006 to 2010 amounts to some 1.3 billion euros. This trend is being driven by the East Asian Tigers and the Chinese metropolitan cities. The systems in Japan are already well advanced technically. Therefore, investments are mainly going into system upgrades. A volume of some 930 million euros is expected in North America. Modern ticketing systems are being introduced on a large scale in the USA and Canada alike. In the USA in particular, safety systems are being upgraded on a grand scale. The remaining world regions are of lower importance. Although Australia is well advanced in terms of technology, the market is relatively small. The CIS states have large public transport systems available, but the technical and financial possibilities are few. South America only has a small number of large public transport systems. Africa only has low market volumes to offer, even in the long term. Besides the assessment of existing systems and a detailed market forecast, the market study includes a compilation of the relevant market access conditions, formal entry requirements and the established standards in selected countries. In addition, the development of important manufacturers is presented. The study is rounded off with an extensive annex including a complete survey of the latest products on the international markets as well as a table listing worldwide industry manufacturers and transport companies.
