NORTH AMERICA - POST-STIMULUS PASSENGER RAIL MARKET DEVELOPMENTSThe major American Recovery and Reinvestment Program of 2009 (ARRA) seems to open up a new era of high-speed, long-distance passenger and commuter rail in the USA. Overtopping by far the programmes in the corresponding neighbouring countries as well as the efforts taken by previous national governments, it was temporarily in danger to overrun the regional transit angencies and national passenger rail operator Amtrak.
